    Question About Armoury XP Bonus

    The in-game Active Help seems completely clear on this:

    "The bonus grows larger the greater the discrepancy between your current level and the level of your highest class!"

    But then so does this Wiki: http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wi...e#Armory_Bonus

    "The amount of experience granted has nothing to do with the distance in levels from your highest class."

    Obviously one would expect to believe what the game says yet my experience of MMO Wikis such as those for FFXI, GW2, etc is that they're rarely wrong.

    So, is this one wrong here?

    That has caused a fair amount of confusion, but people have tested it and verified that the bonus is the same regardless of how much higher your highest class is. (The common theory about that Active Help description is that it was written based on a planned pattern that was never actually implemented in game. But SE has neither confirmed this nor, obviously, corrected the Active Help.)

    The bonus is 100% while you're under level 50 (on the current class that you're leveling up) and 50% while you're level 50-60. Whether your highest class is 10 or 60 or anywhere in between doesn't matter, so long as it's higher than the one you're playing.

    I think the Active Help entry was right at some point in the past. They have since changed things so the Armory bonus is no longer dependent on how big the level difference is, but apparently forgot to update the Help entry.

    Thanks folks, it made sense the way the in-game help described it and I only discovered the 'Wiki' page from searching for some other aspect of XP.

    Perhaps it may have been the pattern during 1.0 or during alpha/beta testing for ARR. But since ARR launched, I'm pretty sure the bonus has been consistent regardless of your higher class's level. I know it was fairly soon after ARR launch that I first saw discussions of this and people checking and verifying that it was always a flat 50% regardless of your highest class's level or the difference between it and your current one. The only change since is that after Heavensward came out, they changed it from 50% at all levels (which only went up to 50 at the time) to 100% up to level 50, then 50% from 50 to 60.

    There were a few threads a long time ago asking SE to either correct the Active Help description if the observed pattern were intended, or to correct the behavior of the bonus itself, if what the Active Help describes were the intended pattern. At first we weren't quite sure which was correct and which was the error, just pretty sure that having them not match was wrong.
