    Regen macro help, please

Hi. As a WHM, I generally haven't used macros much, but I'm looking for help on a possible Regen macro for use on a controller cross bar.

The main reason is when doing 24-person raids and I am in alliance A or C (B is the main tank) and I spend much of the time helping with DPS -- I'd like to also throw a Regen onto the B tank, but being that they are in a different alliance it is a bit harder to target them with a controller for a single Regen.

I'd like the macro to also work in normal situations, so I'm hoping it will:
    1) Regen my target if my target is a player (i.e. normal healing situation)
    2) If I'm targeting a monster, the macro should Regen the monster's target (i.e. the tank, when I am DPSing)

    I've tried:
    /merror off
    /ac "Regen" <tt>
    /ac "Regen" <t>
    /micon "Regen"

But even when targeting a monster on which the tank has hate, I end up just casting Regen on myself.

    Can anyone help me with this? ^^;

You have to dedicate an entire slot to your <tt> macro if you're going to use one. Other options are adding in the assist function, which targets the target of the current target (<tt>.) On PS4 it's handy to go into system settings, controller settings, begin, and changing r3 or l3 to assist. I have l3 and r3 set to assist and a Sprint/ mount macro.

Avoid macroing heals in a fashion that tries to create AI between t and tt. One misstep in your framerate and it won't function correctly.

So look into assist is what you should take from this. :]

The reason you have this issue, is most likely due to how macros dont like to queue up with the GCD.
When you press it, you press it too soon, and it only registers the 2nd part, which is <t>. When you do that, it targets you next.

    Thank you for the response.

So I will need to use 2 separate slots? One for Regen under normal healing situations, and another for Regen on the tank when DPSing?

Would you be able to give any examples?
    I'm not a big macro user and my head is spinning trying to figure this out. ^^;

    I'm trying:
    /assist <t>
    /ac "Regen" <t>

While focused on a boss, I think this would cast Regen on the main tank?
But if I am focused on the tank, it would try to Regen the boss... which would then end up casting on me instead?

    Oh, I use a controller on a PC and I think I don't have R3 or L3 buttons.

R3 and L3 are buttons under the 2 sticks of the controller. you have to press the sticks down.

i also use "target target's target" on R3, this helps alot.

For now I set up a macro as:
    /merror off
    /assist <t>
    /ac "Regen" <t>
    /assist <t>
    /micon "Regen"

...and set this on a hotbar I can click with my mouse since it's pretty situational. On my crossbar I just have regular Regen (not as a macro) for normal healing situations.

I just finished a Mhach run as alliance C, and this macro seems to do what I want by putting a Regen onto alliance B's tank while I am focused on the boss.

I don't understand why /ac "Regen" <tt> casts Regen on myself when I've targeted the boss and alliance B's tank is holding hate... but at least the macro above seems to work.

    /ac regen <tt>

Alone should do what that macro does, assuming you're targeting a monster who is targeting tank B. You just can't add regen <t>. Id also repeat that one line 10 to max times to create a sort of psuedo queue for it.

This should accomplish what the OP is trying to do. Its going to Regen whoever has agro on your target. As long as your dpsing the boss and don't try to use the macro too soon, it'll work.

I think the idea behind suggesting assist was not to include it to that macro of yours. The idea is that, since you can't put <t> and <tt> to same macro anyway, you only have the natural Regen somewhere in your crossbar. Then you have somewhere in your controller the assist command. Now, if you are in a situation you want to cast -anything- to the main tank while you target the boss, you first hit the assist, then cast whatever, Regen or something, the click assist again to get target back to boss.

It's solution to the targeting issue with controller, not to the macro building in itself. It also gives you easy way to target the main tank for all purposes, not just one specific action.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.

I am confused. I have both my Virus & Eye for an Eye Macros as:

    Code:
    /micon Virus/Eye for an Eye
    /ac "Virus" <t>
    /ac "Virus" <tt>
If my target cannot be the target of said skill, then it moves to <tt>. I cannot speak for others, but perhaps it is because I am not mashing my macro after a GCD, but it works every time and I have never had an issue with it. For alliances though, my Virus macro still works; however, Virus =/= Regen, so there may be a difference in that sense.
