Thread: Can the RNG in Weeping City be this bad?

One of this week's goals in FFXIV was to get a headpiece or robe for my caster from WC. As Tuesday approaches, I think I am going to miss the loot deadline. In 19 runs, over 22+ hours(~30min queues)it dropped the caster robe once. I lost with a 2 roll against someone who already had a 240 chest piece.

Other than that one time, it rotates through fending, maiming, aiming, and striking. Many times no one in the group even rolls on these. I haven't seen the headpiece drop yet. Has anyone experienced it this bad?

There has to be a better way of doing this... After 10, 20 runs..maybe SE should let you choose a piece(which would take up your weekly allotment credit)? I would imagine anyone could agree that after 20 runs..you've earned it...

It's 1:55AM EST going on run 20...I am crossing my fingers.. If so I'll have to go through another day of banging my head against the wall...

That is extremely normal for 24man content.
I've missed my share of weekly loot, and end up greeding something else for another class on the last night.

But it took me a year to get my tank body from WoD.
Queues werent bad at the start, and more recently, but in the middle, queues were roughly 3-6 hours every single time.

I hadnt touched a single HW quest, and my alt was Lv50 PLD, and reached Lv60, switched to Lv50 WAR, and got to Lv60 on WAR as well waaaaaay before I got the body to finally drop. (solely from the recently added exp reward from beating the bosses)

sometimes RNG hates you.
(my luck was far worse in FFXI, 50% drop rate on a mob that respawns in 15mins, took 3 months to finally get the drop every day of camping. Another drop was 33% chance, and after 7 years never dropped, and i quit the game because of it lol) but the polar opposite happened and I had perfect god like luck in WoW. Drops with a 1 in 500,000 happened twice to me when farming only like 20 times.

ive been lucky that 6 different healing pieces dropped in 6 consecutive weeks in my first run that week. lol.

and i either won the loot or the other healer didnt need it

edit: there was actually 1 week that i didnt get a piece but still...i got all 6 pieces in 7 weeks

stuff like rng in raids of 24, its best to just not focus on a specific body piece rather just get the gear that has the job, and if not, the next best job >_>

I'm nearly 100% positive this is already an option. Introduced back in 2.35 something. Form 3 parties of 8, be in the same zone, and invite to your alliance, and queue up.

Honestly thats not that bad.

I ran over 35 runs for my monk pants and feet **each** during Crystal Tower. I think it was Labyrinth of the Ancients were the pieces i wanted.

I cleared Coil turn 1 every week for 20-22 weeks attempting to obtain the tank allagan body piece because i hated how the paladin tome piece looked.

I didnt see the tank body piece drop until after I obtained the tome piece, and they released second coil of bahamut and the gear restriction on first coil was relinquished.

I no longer seek specific pieces of gear anymore, and i have way more fun not stressing over random number drops.

If you want it for glamour, then best of luck to you.

If you want it for the stats....

In my opinion any piece of gear is perfectly fine.

Unless youre in a static where you purposely have a ninja in the group who puts up trick attack, when the astrologian gives you the balance, and youre using food, poison potions, melded gear, and all the other things people who obsess over FFlogs do, then having specific pieces of gear means next to nothing. Thats my thoughts anyway.
