I have to disagree with this, chocobo is good for ppl short distance travel and ppl who have a lot of time to play to use it as long distance travel like from city to city. So no, chocobo is not a gil sink system neither it worth more than airships, cant compare 2 thing with different purpose.

to me it looks like they gave some out (to NPC's) and are regretting it now airships are back to full use and will never do it again as it looses them so much money

Actually the npc is talking about not being able to see someone (can't remember if it was her kid or not), she doesnt work for the airship company, sorry i didnt clarify.

It's just flavor text, SE wouldn't be wise to allow lifetime passes, hopefully. There's way too much gil in this game that they should actually raise prices since they won't wipe the economy to a clean state.

true, though I question the effectiveness of airships as a gilsink... still, it's something.

If they do put these in, I hope there is a quest involving these npcs and not just a one time payment thing, that would be lame.
