Calibrated Rose Gold Cog - Is NQ even possible without cross-class skills?

Hi all. Sorry if I missed something in the forums, but I didn't see any info regarding the topic question. I also didn't see much in a general Google search pertaining to just the NQ version, and the probability of success (given my situation).

I recently re-subbed after a lengthy absence. I am trying to synth a calibrated rose gold cog, and failed twice last night (wasn't even close). It stung bad...FFXI style...

Anywho...is getting even just a NQ possible without cross-class skills (or few CC skills, as in my case)?

That is an excellent question. I think you at least would want to have rapid synthesis and/or ingenuity 2. If you haven't all ready done so you may want to see if you can upgrade your stuff with the HW crafting gear. Shouldn't be too expensive. If you were on Ultros I'd offer to make you a hq set to help out.

What level are you on? I didn't even bother with the ARR Masterbooks until I was lvl60 & had decent gear. It's not worth busting a gut for.

The difference between lvl50 & lvl51 crafts is astounding. I came into HW with the best ARR gear (not melded though) & couldn't HQ lvl51 stuff!

Just work through past lvl50 & get the free stuff from the quests. Don't buy any gear HQ from the market until over lvl55 as it's not worth it & gets quickly outdated.

What server are you on? A lot of servers have crafting communities who will often help out to get you geared up. =)

Good afternoon, everyone. Thanks so much for the feedback, honestly.

I was GSM 50 when doing the synths. I have the level 50 GSM gear, and it is melded, although not perfectly, I'm sure. I left that part out. I haven't bought HW yet, so I am capped at 50. I initially wondered if doing this was even possible at my level.

As far as craftsmanship, I was slightly over the min to attempt the synth. I needed to eat control food just to hit that minimum level.

I had steady hand 2, hasty touch (which I didn't even attempt), and rumination (which wasn't usable).

I had no other cross class skills (although I am working on getting every other craft to at least 15 for now).

In other words...I was able to attempt the craft, but just barely. I knew I was going to be hard pressed to be successful, but I was surprised at how far I was.

I just got ingenuity one last night...not sure if it will help a ton, but it'll be there.

I am also close to ARM 15 for rapid synthesis...which I would imagine would be an enormous help (assuming I don't get a lot of fails).

Sorry I don't have more info at the moment (at work). Maybe that paints a clearer picture for now. And I appreciate everyone's help, as previously mentioned. Have fun, all. ^^

Saying you got whatever gear on which slot doesn't help because it depend of the quality and meld you got
Sooooo numbers craftmanship, control and CP

If you attemps HQ rapid synthesis is the least wanted skill because of rng
If you aim for NQ then rapid might be your friend alongside with ingeniosity

Having steady hand 2 and hasty touch are a great addition for HQ

You can craft NQ Calibrated Rose Cogs without any cross-class skills if you have 400 Craftsmanship and 336 CP.

The sequence uses Steady Hand (SH), Basic Synthesis (BS), Master's Mend II (MM2), and Manipulation (Manip) - all GSM skills.

SH-BS-BS-BS-BS-BS-SH-BS-BS-MM2-BS-BS-Manip-SH-BS-BS-BS-BS-BS-SH-BS-BS-BS

That's 17 Basic Synths, each buffed to 100% success rate, and each giving 48 progress.
The cogs have 80 durability, and the MM2 and Manipulation together restore 90.
