When i started this game 2-3 months ago, I was disappointed to see bots spam as much as they can in this game. Ever since then my blacklist have been bots, I have not yet blocked even 1 legit player it was all bots.. and I've seen those same bots still in this game until this day, some bots get deleted so I remove some from my blacklist but its just not enough getting deleted.

In the mornings and through the early afternoon (Pacific time), it can be really really obnoxious. Like, literally the only thing on my screen is multiple spam messages. During peak times, it definitely drops down, so if you are only playing then, you would notice far fewer messages. It picks up again after about 10 Pacific. So really, for a good 18 hours a day, it IS often enough to be annoying and a hindrance. Those other 6 hours are not bad at all tho.

Only spammers i know on Cerberus are these in the market districts of the starting cities and they are gone 5 minutes after reporting them. I didn't get a /tell for RMT advertisment for months and due to vacations i played like 12 to 16 hours a day...
Seems to be more a problem in not reporting spammers and less effectiv GMs on other servers/datacenters.

I don't know, I got hit with a 2 week ban criticizing SE as well as other players who thought the EU promotion was fair. Granted I called both SE and those certain players mindsets both appalling and idotic. I wouldn't put calling SE out as something that doesn't go unnoticed, all it takes is a GM to have a bad day and looking to complete their quota, and bam, suspension.

Maybe less of them, granted, but they're not going anywhere. Western players (as well as folks from Asian countries that find it acceptable, like China) are the primary targets for their advertising, simply because it's how the trade became much more profitable and popularized from many years ago.
If people stop buying, cost of replacing banned accounts would eve tually drive them away.

I also got banned once for saying the OP of the post i replied to was clueless as to what they were talking about.
So yeah they really can and have banned players for any reason really

As for RMT goes, my god it truly is annoying, even more so when you see the bots standing right there in say Gridania as example by the marketboard, just spamming away messages

It reminds me back in FFXI...It was probably around 2006 or 2007 time frame....The RMT operations ramped up heavily, seemingly out of no where. Bots started to show up everywhere, every NM was being camped by gil sellers, they even began to challenge legit HNM LS's at camps...Mobs like tiamaat for example. If they lost claim on the mob to a legit guild, they would train hordes of mobs onto you and wipe your group to steal claim. Auction hosue inflation went completely nuts, Items that maybe were 700k climbed to over 10 million gil. It was the worst flood of RMT I ever seen happen in an MMO. I remember players got really frustrated. Finally, SE announced they would put in place a new "Special task force" to deal with the RMT problem, and they began systematically taking these people down. They issued regular reports, just like they do now, detailing the number of people banned etc. After a few months of this everything returned to normal, the auction house market corrected back to normal, and everything was good again. Does anyone from FFXI remember this time?

Its funny to see folks cry about spam tells when they are easily avoidable vs crying about rage quiting in duties because there was a screw up, lmfao 1st world problems i guess!
It's better to not have the bull shit in the road than it is to avoid stepping in its bullshit.

I disabled tells entirely, only way I could tolerate it.

How about a customizable filter that I can add phrases to that will ban any tell with an of my banned phrases in it? This is tech that is 2002 era cutting edge.

If I could filter myself, I'd have picked a phrase in each of those three types of Spam I got and no more would come. Sure the spammers will rotate the text ever so often, but I can add new phrases faster then they change and get relative peace.

This is not a computer science problem that has not been solved dozens of times, Hell even forums like this have more robust anti-spam features.
I would think a single filter would catch a great amount of them, assuming it could take into account variables...

(any number)[comma or no comma]{three or four 0's}<space or no space>(k or K)

Realistically, most people would switch to m instead of k once they get into the millions range... but I believe every rmt I recall always used the k monkier.

This filter would trip on nearly every rmt tell I can recall seeing.
And doesn't have as much of a chance to trigger on normal conversations, due to the aforementioned normal people swapping to m when you get over 1,000k.
