I just create another channel called it tells turn tells on and turn off the general channel tells that way I control when I seem them or a legit /tell from someone mostly when friends are on though works for me at least. /shrug

Some of us actually talk to other players, and turning tells off or shuttling them off to some hidden tab to be ignored just isn't a good enough option.
There ARE things SE can do to make this game better, easy changes, but they don't, and it makes them look lazy and like they don't care. I get that in JP it's a totally different environment, so maybe they just don't understand how much of a hassle and/or annoyance it is so it doesn't get the priority it should, but how many posts, how many complaints, how many reports must they see before they understand that it IS a problem that greatly affects it's players negatively on an ongoing basis.
Yeah but tbh..we shouldn't have to be "handling it" ourselves in the first place
FYI, just turned busy off thinking the spammers have slowed down, and now my friends are logging in. It's been roughly 3 hours since i turned it on. Within a minute, I received 2 spam messages.

Last night over 4 hours of play I received 43 spams. The first arrived at the same second I logged in. All of them were variations of three spiels.
How about a customizable filter that I can add phrases to that will ban any tell with an of my banned phrases in it? This is tech that is 2002 era cutting edge.
If I could filter myself, I'd have picked a phrase in each of those three types of Spam I got and no more would come. Sure the spammers will rotate the text ever so often, but I can add new phrases faster then they change and get relative peace.
This is not a computer science problem that has not been solved dozens of times, Hell even forums like this have more robust anti-spam features.
Our thinking is that SE can do MORE.... they, right now, are barely scratching the spam tell problem. They make pittance bans that do little to slow down the amount of tells we get. This is not a new, surprising problem in online games. There have been solutions, that SE has NOT done, that have worked for more than a decade. They are combating this modern day problem with 30 year old solutions that have long been overcome by these vermin.
I don't expect them to completely eradicate spam messages. I expect them to do more than they're doing tho.
Half the issue is how lopsided tell and say spam is between servers. The very highest and lowest population servers barely get a peep on top of JP servers of all sizes hardly seeing the spam either.
This causes it to look like it's a relatively small chunk of the player base getting gil spam at the rate Mae is getting, when it shouldn't be an issue at all.
The ones I see are so garbled anymore they are barely legible, clearly their method to beat the filters.
Using 3rd party anything as a fix is an issue in itself as console players have no access to them, even if it's just a chat filter.
PC players should never have an edge in anything over console players in this game.
10 gil says this thread will be deleted and Mae banned within a week. Hope I'm wrong. BTW, I'm on your side Mae. RMT are stupid.
