Yeah but tbh..we shouldn't have to be "handling it" ourselves in the first place
or the dev team can handle it since we pay them?
I fully support more options that dev to handle the problem, but for some like myself I found adding a channel as tells and turn off the general channel was my best option since I do majority of chat in fc or ls it's a very optional way for some to handle it. If people fall into my category were they don't use the tell system much really good way to control the spam, now if they revert back to shout and yells that be a different storyAgain I agree more could be done though.

Some of us actually talk to other players, and turning tells off or shuttling them off to some hidden tab to be ignored just isn't a good enough option.
There ARE things SE can do to make this game better, easy changes, but they don't, and it makes them look lazy and like they don't care. I get that in JP it's a totally different environment, so maybe they just don't understand how much of a hassle and/or annoyance it is so it doesn't get the priority it should, but how many posts, how many complaints, how many reports must they see before they understand that it IS a problem that greatly affects it's players negatively on an ongoing basis.
It's better to not have the bull shit in the road than it is to avoid stepping in its bullshit.LOL you folks are funny! There are steps you can take like customize your chat filters so you can't see tell's or hear them, they made it 100 times easier to b-list folks as well. And if you really wanted, run up to a RMT and commence trade with them a few times! Its funny to see folks cry about spam tells when they are easily avoidable vs crying about rage quiting in duties because there was a screw up, lmfao 1st world problems i guess!
I would think a single filter would catch a great amount of them, assuming it could take into account variables...Last night over 4 hours of play I received 43 spams. The first arrived at the same second I logged in. All of them were variations of three spiels.
How about a customizable filter that I can add phrases to that will ban any tell with an of my banned phrases in it? This is tech that is 2002 era cutting edge.
If I could filter myself, I'd have picked a phrase in each of those three types of Spam I got and no more would come. Sure the spammers will rotate the text ever so often, but I can add new phrases faster then they change and get relative peace.
This is not a computer science problem that has not been solved dozens of times, Hell even forums like this have more robust anti-spam features.
(any number)[comma or no comma]{three or four 0's}<space or no space>(k or K)
Realistically, most people would switch to m instead of k once they get into the millions range... but I believe every rmt I recall always used the k monkier.
This filter would trip on nearly every rmt tell I can recall seeing.
And doesn't have as much of a chance to trigger on normal conversations, due to the aforementioned normal people swapping to m when you get over 1,000k.
Wouldn't take long for them to learn and get around a filter unless was constantly updated.I would think a single filter would catch a great amount of them, assuming it could take into account variables...

I just create another channel called it tells turn tells on and turn off the general channel tells that way I control when I seem them or a legit /tell from someone mostly when friends are on though works for me at least. /shrug
FYI, just turned busy off thinking the spammers have slowed down, and now my friends are logging in. It's been roughly 3 hours since i turned it on. Within a minute, I received 2 spam messages.
