    Materia Melding Improvement

I'm not one to enjoy needless formalities, so I'll just get to the point.

The current Materia Melding system is flawed because it relies to heavily on other players. That's all fine and well in a perfect world, but if you don't have a trusted friend with a high craft level, you can be sure you're not getting any materia melded.

First off, to get a crafter to put materia into your gear you have to shout to get one, a simple enough solution. However more often than not, unless you put an overly extravagant reward up for a meager task, no crafter will want to aid you. I have seen many a person shout in Ul'dah for several hours offering rewards of 50k per item or greater to no avail.

Secondly, once you find a crafter you have to put your trust in the person with your items, there really is nothing stopping them from taking it if they so choose. Even if a GM is able to return your items to you, that should not be a risk nor hassle one has to go through to get materia melded. Prices of ATK IV materia on my server are above 2m each, would you trust some random crafter that's helping you only because you're paying him with something like that AND whatever item you're putting it in? Thus far I havn't had any problems with this, but I'd really love there to not be a risk of it.

My suggestion to fixing this problem, at least in a slight way, is to be able to put things in your bazaar just as you would to have them repaired. One would have to put a catalyst and materia into a slot on the armor but it wouldn't be counted as melded and a special icon like the repair hammer would be added to signify that they need a crafter.

On a related sidenote, fix the repair system as well so that the reward for repair and the item up for repair take up only a single slot. The materia system I suggested should also take up but a single slot.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and continue the good work on making this game a real game.

Hi! I see we're in the same boat! As with many many other players.

Also, as InuraBera pointed out, dev team have acknowledged and agreed about the non-trading method for materia crafting melding.

I agree with you and would appreciate it too if the repair+reward could consume less slots in Bazaar.

I totally agree, it should be exactly the same as seeking a repair.

I was thinking about this today, I recently got my WVR to 50 on an alt, but then realized I can't spiritbond my mage gear on my alt (since she's low mage rank D: haha) for the extra % chance of success when adding 2+ materia. I would lovelovelove a system where we could throw items up in our bazaar and offer a reward for melding.
Even better to allow our retainers to do the same thing, so we are not stood around for ages waiting in ul'dah

    (Melder's Row, anyone? XD)

    Have a good day!

Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means

It would be great; though i dont think it really effect that much anyway; but yes it is better than giving your item to s.o you dont know and ask them to meld it for you.

I haven't paid too much attention to the materia melding and so called spirit-bonding. Do these things run together?

As for slots, search for melding and crafting skills: I totally agree though I understand that crafting should be encouraged by leveling it up so you can meld things on your own and/or help those in your company or linkshell meld equipment, this in fact is a social MMO( I believe... it should be find to trust this faith =3).

Ahem... so, it melding a specific craft for the equipment you need melding? Thank you for the replys.

After wearing an equipment for so long (while taking actions like killing enemies, crafting, gathering) we gain a tiny bit of Spiritbond with that piece of equipment. When the Spiritbond gauge is full, you then can turn it into a Materia (while wishing for a lucky result, like, useful/high grade Materia).

Melding a Materia to an equipment, as far as I've seen, always requires the craft class (and I guess level too) that was required to create the equipment.

And yes, Spiritbonding and Materia Melding run together.

Also, we have to finish specific quests in order to be able to mess around with Materia (making, melding, finding catalyst needed for melding).
