    Elezen population in ul'dah

So i was looking back at some 1.0 cutscenes and i noticed a fair amount of elezen npcs in Ul'dah and as soldiers of the immortal flames, yet in 2.0 there is to my knowledge only one unnamed elezen in the goldsmiths guild and one member of the Immortal Flames.

Even in the GC propaganda you can see an Elezen Dark knight (What? this is 1.0 stuff right?) hiding in the fadeover to text.

Was there a purge im unavare of? Where'd they go?

I'd just like to add that i find it odd that the city states appeared to be split be ideology in 1.0 unlike now where i find that it is race that separates them.

I think that came about because a lot of the deeper story ideas had not actually been fully worked out in 1.0 (which was kind of symbolic of 1.0's troubled development and operation), so it's taken time for Mr Maehiro, Mr Oda and Mr Koji-Fox to try and bring consistency to the setting and storylines by making the citystates more culturally homogeneous, meaning certain races are more likely to be restricted to certain cities, in this case elezen are more often found in Gridania and Ishgard (1.0 really did seem like each city was racially diverse, like lalafell and roegadyn were seen frequently in Gridania and elezen in Ul'dah and Limsa. Even Ala Mhigo was seen as having many different races like miqo'te identify as 'Ala Mhigian').

Having said that, with Ul'dah's reasonably close proximity to Gridania it kind of makes sense there would be some elezen living there, whether they simply settled there out of wanderlust or for political or financial reasons (after all, a lot of Ul'dahn merchants are seen around Gridania). The backstory I wrote for my character even had her growing up in Ul'dah under the care of a wealthy elezen merchant family (who were originally Gridanian but settled in Ul'dah for aforementioned business reasons), so having elezen in Ul'dah definitely makes sense.

Remember, Eorzea is multi-racially and multi-culturally diverse, where races of all kinds live and mingle in each city without any real problems - this isn't Vana'diel where each city was racially homogeneous to the extreme and there was a very real ugly undercurrent of racism and xenophobia. It's just that SE seems to have tried to make the cities in ARR a little more consistent by having certain races more often associated with them - elezen becoming less often seen in Ul'dah is sadly an example of this.

I wonder were those Elezens Duskwight or Wildwood? I can see many Duskwight Elezens moving into Ul'dah and there were some duskwight mobs in some quests.

That's actually part of the little storyline I made for my own avatar; she's a Dusk that moved to Ul'dah to get away from the Twelveswood's oppressive nature, figuratively and literally.

Tataru's popularity as a waitress in the Forgotten Knight was partly because she is a Lalafell, who are extremely rare in Ishgard. There are no Mi'qote or Roegadyn there, either, outside of our circle of allies.

I do wonder how Duskwrights would do in Thanalan... Sunscreen would need to be involved or there would be some bad times ahead.

Looking back at the cutscenes i found mostly dark reddish/brown elezen. With a few grey among them. Eolande, a former member of the syndicate who died in the calamity comes to mind as a "famous" Duskwight . I dont know if Duskwights could be dark brown back then as i know that some options were more limited.

From my understanding we duskwrights are a reclusive folk...preferring to stay away from city areas. To even see a duskwright would be rare, so I guess population would not be very high in ul'dah

Now with the starlight celebration i guess we can agree that all the elezen was just practising alchemy and treating children for a few years. Or that the devs had forgotten and made up for the lack with this questline. Cause its booming with Uldahn elezen.

Well we did unite the three GC's back in a 1.0 quest.
So we got them to somewhat get along.
