    (Palace of the dead) RNG

    Hi,

    I keep wondering who thinks its a super good idea to let everything in this game depend on RNG. I just did palace of the dead and i'm a bit pissed off to be honest. i was 27/28 when I got in on floor 41. So one good run and i'm finished right, no not really. We found plenty off chests that didn't actually explode but with every single one of them "... remains unchanged" while other party members got +1 every single time. Who thinks this is a solid game mechanic. It's worse then grinding your relic with random fate drops. But the time it takes isn't even the worst part it's just the randomness of it all.

    If you really want people to take longer to get a weapon or other gear make the content harder, and interesting. Now you've got to do so many runs it turns into a really annoying grind that isn't fun at all cause it's the exact same content over and over again. This is just another cheap game mechanic to keep people occupied. btw People are fed up with your RNG.

    I've had runs where I ended at +30/+29, then had to go back through an entire full run for that +1 because the RNG wouldn't be kind enough to give me that +1 early. Frustrating, but RNG is RNG, and it's always gonna be present in a game like this somewhere...though PotD DOES seem to rely on it a bit overmuch. As much as I hate RNG personally, though, my only real gripe with the aetherpool upgrade RNG is that, in the above example, a lot of my upgrade attempts were completely wasted because the upgrades still tried to apply to my maxed-out arm instead of my still-in-progress armor (not the first time I'd seen this happen). THAT, I'd say, could stand to be adjusted.

    While I would agree mostly with that, at the very least you can run it on other classes and get good XP from them as a consolation. I did it with my black mage character and got like 40-43 just doing floors 1-30.

    Some rng I can forgive, especially being an FFXI player. However alot of RNG is somewhat justified, if even loosely. I see absolutely no reason for these aether boosts to be rng though. Why? They're not even drops. The "item" did in fact drop, its just random if you got it or not, not even mattering if others got it or not. Why? If you were going to do rng, the rng should have been the silver dropping the aether to begin with. It's just silly and even almost a little insulting.

    Except FF11 uses the same loot system in BCNMS, abyssea. items that share the same slot, and just about everything else and has it to the point where it can have you grinding out old content for months or years before you even touch a good item, even with the game being made easier.

    But the salt levels can die down now that their bringing in 240 weapons and soon everyone can go back to doing......nothing until 3.4.

    I experienced RNG while grinding my two weapons. But I enjoyed it when on the very last point needed I got in with a real party that included a healer. Got the +1 early and did not have to worry about making it to the end to get that last point. I will NOT go back there any time soon as it is boring and it also had the gall to have me go through 20 floors without a single +1, twice!! Oh well I got what I was after. Let's hope the next set of floors brings some excitement.

    The consolation of doing this if you get bad RNG is that you're rewarded with EXP or tomes every 10th floor you complete.

    Still, I do believe it's awful that RNG plays way too much into this. RNG to make the silver chests pop up, then RNG to make the chest upgrade your gear, change nothing, explode in your face, or turn into a mimic.

    It's not perfect but it has it's tricks

    I use this method and have gotten my weps pretty fast.

    If starting from 0 do dungeon 1-10 3 times, use second slot as a one time run adn repeat floors back and forth till end. Chances are you will get 30/30 on one go or beginning of second.

    I mainly use it for more tome farming weps are just a bonus.

    It is bad when you can run 1-50 and get unchanged on every single silver blue chest you see. Even on floors where you see like 6 of the things.

    It really is to much rng. They should make the silvers guarantee at least 1 point of upgrade excluding traps. And if necessary increase the points you need. Maybe 50-50. Least that way you. Know your making progress. Where 4o floors of unchanged is just infuruating
