Is there pvp?

Hey I'm new to FFxiv and I want to know if there is pvp in this game thanks.

Yes. It takes a while into the storyline before it is unlocked as it ties in with it. Once it is unlocked though you can PVP. There's also different modes that can be unlocked depending on your main character level. Enjoy. =)

Yes but it know as hardcore as most MMOs, take some getting use too.

That's hard to answer as they all have their own way of playing. I usually heal but have had fun as Summoner too. It varies with the PVP mode also!

Indeed. Some even encourage players to change jobs within the duty based on their alliances' members.

What quest do I need to complete to start pvping?

Take the "A Pup No Longer" quest from your Grand Company's commander. That opens the Wolves' Den, the first of the PvP types.

Then there's "Like Civilized Men and Women" (also at your GC) that unlocks Frontline.

Those are both at level 50. Then there's "A Seat at the Feast" at level 60.
