Limit Breaks is nice but will it be just a ability with a very long reuse timer, or will certain conditions must happen before the use like FF9's Trance.

More like... Seven knights walk out of thin air, target the mob your fighting, draw out their swords/ lances (or what ever diversity of weapon), engage and attack one by one with blinding speed. Let's say it was to compare to FFXII, this would be high-resolution and so much cooler. It would be visible to other players as well as other limit-breaks would be. The developers need to work their tails off for this one! Total and concentrated HIGH Final Fantasy =3

Why seven? KoR summons Thirteen >.>More like... Let me elaborate.
Limit Breaks are actions that is accessible only after certain condition is met. Whether it be taking DMG, successfully stagging the mob, fulling up a special meter bar. w/e. I'm not asking for more weapons skills. Do you understand?
XIV can incorporate everything

I'm all for limit breaks but not like WS used to work which had a super long timer of 1h. I'm think of something more like the old FFs did where whenever you get hit or you hit the target you get a "limit break gauge" filling up slowly until it is full, and then you get to use a special Limit break ability. They could add a new Limit break move, with a different effect for each 20 levels.
Example:
White mage Limit break 1: Fully heal a target, HP and MP.
White mage Limit break 2: Fully heal a target, HP and MP and cast Protect + shell
White mage Limit break 3: Fully heal party Hp and MP and cast protect + shell.
Paladin Limit break 1: AOE damage on all enemy surrounding you + provoke on all enemies
Paladin Limit break 2: Cast powerful defense spell on all party members
Paladin Limit break 3: AOE damage, provoke all enemies + Cast defense spell + minor heal on party members .
Black mage Limit break 1: Powerful spell + increased spell damage for 20 sec
Black mage Limit break 2: Powerful spell + 0 sec cast for next spell
Black mage Limit break 3: Meteor powerful AOE spell + increased spell damage for 20 sec on party
As for using these abilities, filling up the limit break bar once (Yellow) makes LVL 1 limit breaks available. Filling it up twice (orange) enables level 2 and for level 3, you need 3 full bars(Red)
Get the idea?
this is an amazing idea, but each class type would need a different way to build the bar,
HEALERS - build limit break bar by healing/buffing
BLK MAGE - build limit bar by casting damage / dot
melee wel same as black mage but for melee attacks
limit breaks can be performed in a battle regiem for a hell-on-earth style attack lol
Has absolutely no sense to do a great move based on how much damage i take.. so tanks can spam them sure? and BLMs have to go close and get hits to use it?
No thanks. 2Hrs skills could ok, and Self combos are better. I like "This thing trigger this other, and if crit, u can reuse it or attack from left and something happens." Not: "Get hits and u can do this or this one"
the only posts in this thread that even approaches trolling are the ones by you, like the ones I'm quoting here. Same thing with acting like a kid
Post that does not conform to your ideals are not automatically trolls, but then I guess it's too much to expect kids to understand the concept.
Weapon skill is to FF14 what Limit Breaks were for FF7. While they are not identical, being in different games and all, functionally they are the same. What you is basically an OP'd and more flashy weapon skill.
My first impression, upon starting FFXI, was that weaponskills functioned a lot like Limit Breaks; they charge when you do damage and when you take damage. In FFXIV, they don't feel as much like limit breaks because they charge a lot faster ( and everyone plays more like FFXI Dancers with regard to TP expenditure ).
To the OP:
Nobody's trolling you. They're just pointing out that Limit Breaks have evolved into the weapon skills we now have.
What about Weaponskills that literally Break the TP Bar making it go over 3'000 to, I dunno, 4'000 so you can use those specific Weaponskills?
That could be a limit break! It's more like: Your limit is 3'000 TPs; With some actions or strategies you can get your bar over 3'000 and use special Weaponskills which are called Limit Breaks.
I agree, they work very similar except the aren't as flashy, powerful or rarely triggered. But it is obvious that we are talking about more of a "job related super ability", the best way to do this imo is with a much longer recast timer than the average ability. This time around I want them a little more balanced, obviously FFXI Nin 2hr was not as feasible as a Rdm chainspell.
The challenge will be to balance game content accordingly.
