    no clue , but i still dont think is enough for leveling solo on MSQ (SE has the numbers for exp needed and how many exp MSQ rewards tweaking the numbers so ppl can only do MSQ (dungeons included ) i can be sure is more enjoyable that way NOW , however , i think the actual content (HW now) needs to be done doing side quests....

    the issue with FFXIV that others mmorpgs have is that once u have done a quest u cant repeat it (outside daily tribes ).... now if side quests were job based instead of char based....i could go level any job repeating the same quests , yeah some ppl despise that system , but for me is the lesser evil ....

    yeah , crafting and gathering are a pain if u dont level all the jobs at the same time , i still have lvl 10ish , 20ish , 30ish ect crafting gear.....if someday i decide to level a crafter fat chance (lol) , is the worst thing by far of FFXIV ( i usually enjoy gathering crafting in other games , i enjoyed it in eq2 , it has a similar but more player friendly system) the root of the issue is the gear i guess (that needs to be melded) then the timers for gathering , and then the rng in crafting...that once geared u can avoid using Macro1 (progress) , Macro 2 (quality) ....so in the end crafting is like DOW/DOM , gear it and press some buttons ....boohoo

    Talk about people jumping down throats of anyone who mentions ideas from XI but all I see here is things from WoW and other non ff games. You people won't be happy until you literally change the very nature of a FF game. ADD mindless combat, lack of story focus, etc. Keep going though my opinion is mine just as yours is yours.

    This is how it is a new player levels with the story its what I did no problems and its the same for HW the only slow down areas are 48-50 and 58-60 because there are no MSQ for those level ranges.

    The beginning of the game is still pretty boring, but we're at that point in the game's development that SE does need to focus more retaining subs. If they did something like revamp the early game again instead of actually giving us any new endgame content people would probably leave in droves.

    I can't exactly relate as I was new in 1.0, a very different game.
    But from what I gather in the Novice Network and some friends I've brought in is the lack of party content. It's a solo player game with some forced party instances. Lots of people wanted am MMO not a psuedo-offlibe FF game.

    Sure this doesn't apply to everyone, I don't think any complaint dues, but this is what comes to mind when asked.

    You haven't been paying attention lately. If you work on a single class/job, the MSQ alone IS a way to get to level 50 at this point.

    I'm playing several alts and, so far, I haven't had a need to touch a side-quest. I leave those for the 'second and third' class/jobs I'll eventually want to work through.

    Man I have every class to 60 and I still have sidequests to do. There's just so many other more efficient ways of earning exp.

    Most of my friend's from other RPGs dislike the dull mundane story content and similarly I almost quit too during the Titan story arc. There's like 30+ mundane quests to hold a feast in Costa Del Sol and there's nothing mind challenging at all quest-wise besides the challenge to stay awake from the extreme boredom.

    Runescape an ancient archaic game has at least different quest mechanics to make most quests varied and challenging (not hit 1000 DPS to pass interesting, actual puzzles).

    To this day, the fetch, talk to this, kill X monsters quests still annoy the hell out of me but I love the visuals, crafting and housing enough to stay

    The beginning quests were incredibly dull, combat was slow but my main issue at the time is how little the game helps you understand things like enmity.

    I would guess "fear of dungeon instances" may be a place where players are lost. Come for the story, leave because your level 33 Paladin must now learn to be an actual tank [I'm looking at you Brayflox ...]. That sort of thing.

    For me, the real draw of this game is that dungeon instances are tightly integrated into the main story. I haven't seen that in any other MMO I've played. It can, however, become a real disaster for new players who join an instance with experienced players who have no time or patience for those "learning how".
