Ps4/Xbox1/PC Voice Chat

Its stupid because we have a 500$ piece of Technology (ps4)that has full capabilities to comunicate with other systems if the powers that be work out . Some people still gave crap phones that wont support things like ventrillo or mumble , the PC players seem out of touch with the Ps4 community , they say oh just Skype ... well what if people dont have Skype? What if people dont have money for a iphone or a laptop or a PC. Why choose to limit the capabilities of the Ps4 ?

I'm sorry, but this logic makes no sense to me.

You have a $300 piece of equipment (PS4--most are around $300 nowadays where I live), but you are insinuating that people owning these expensive consoles don't also have a cell phone or a laptop? Or Skype? I mean, Skype is free to use. It's not like you have to pay for it. And I don't know many people in this day-in-age that don't have a cell phone and/or personal computer or laptop.

I don't raid, but my FC members and I talk to one another using discord. Some of them play on PC. I play on PS4 and I just have my laptop there running discord as I play. Not that hard to do.

you can buy a galaxy S2 for around $30, it supports discord and you dont even need a cell plan to use it so if you can afford a PS4 (hell if you can afford a PS4 headset which retails for around $30 for the cheap telemarketer 1 earpiece models) you can afford a phone to run discord with which is far more cost effective from a development standpoint and a hell of a lot better quality than any built-in game voice chat I have ever used. I say this as a person who does play on PS4 as well as PC, if the option were there I would not use a built in voice chat and would rather have the PS4 player just type to us rather than the whole group use what is almost always a horrid/laggy/low quality voice chat system.

Other suggestions:
if you have a Vita or a PSP laying around you can throw skype on that
if you have pretty much any tablet or smartphone ever made you can probably run skype on it
if you dont want to spend $30 on a like new S2 you can find plenty of $5 or less sim slot not working phones and as you dont need the sim slot to discord you are good to go (doesnt need to be pretty just needs to work and run android 4.1 jellybean)
if you are that desperate to use your PS4 to communicate with other players then how about you send suggestions to the creators of apps like discord to create applications to run on the PS4

Also to run discord you can run it off most browsers and is not very resource intensive, I was running it off a tethered cell router in the dominican (max of 7kbps) and a laptop I got for $300 CAD back in 2008 that barely ran the OS which you can probably fish better from the garbage of your local apartment complex these days

No offense but your sorta contradicting yourself if somebody can 'afford' a '$500' system they can certainly 'afford' the others. Heck some people can get an iPhone free with a new contract or upgrade. I get that you want voice in game & are trying to persuade others to want the same as you & I came from a mmo that had voice which I kinda miss at times however, I gotta agree with the others because in game voice tends to bring the worse out of people between playing music that others may not want to hear, kids don't bother me cause I have children but it clearly does others, & the toxic part which is some people getting way out of hand. The cons of in game voice outweigh the positives.

I really cannot understand these ragers. Ingame voicechat is a nice Feature. Sure many have a working Bypass but why using a Bypass. I use a pc and I find it uncomfortable to post an ip adress to others which they have to copy and put in in the communication program. It would be so great to click xy and Player z to add them to a voice Group runnig on a server placed on Group leader machine for example. If people don't like it they won't use it, but it's great for fast groups( pvp,instances,fates, sudden roleplay ... . They only need a Mic Boost and noise Cancelling.

Dreaming of a fc home where you autojoin a Region communication like in the division. And can go to someone and speak to him because you are in a 5 m Range (you should be able to deactivate that option).

What Kind of nonsense are you writing? Voice communication is optional. Who forces you to join a Group with these people.

I don't care if they add it in, as long as I can turn it completely off. For every 1 person who uses push to talk or voice-activation responsibly, there's always 10 more who simply don't know or care enough to bother and unleash the beautiful, immersive sounds of their fans/TV/parents/kids/dog/chewing/slurping on their fellow players. I don't really fuss with PF groups as it is, and if anyone rages about it in DF PUGs it'll just be a new flavor of gamer angst, already present in the community, that I simply ignore.

I'm sure I'll crack a smile or two at the inevitable threads of people complaining about players who have it turned off.

I dont think we need to talk about voice chat and how nice it is when it comes to raid groups - thats out of the question and there are more than enough (even cheap) options to get a voice chat running. I'm not scared or concerned about "socialising" and talking to people on voice coms - I normally hop on any thats being offered for a raid group.

Yet I'm still against adding a voice chat to the game - just imagine this scenario: A kinda new-ish player, let it be a healer, enters a dungeon for the first time (let it be the Vault). They struggle with mechanics, their healing, etc. and the group wipes. Now that healer is being told to come on voice chat, because its easy and ingame and if they dont they'll be kicked. Now that healer joins the voice chat and get yelled at everytime they mess up - I wont deny the chance that they will get some decent help aswell, but I dont think its worth the risk. Keep in mind your voice chat wouldnt only be used for raiding or among friends. Keep in mind that having an in game voice chat would be a statment that voice chat is supposed to be used ("If they didnt want us to use it, why is it in the game?"). And while some are confident with voice chats, other are not. That doesnt make them a social failure - they might just want to enjoy a quite few hours after working, playing and not having people yell at them.

Also: I happen to be female and I dont want to imagine what I might get to hear if I join a group (+voice chat) on a friday evening with a bunch of young men that may or may not be slightly drunk...

Ingame voice chat could probably a nice thing if everyone playing this game would be a nice, decent, respectful person. But thats not the case.... by far not...
