Ps4/Xbox1/PC Voice Chat

Most raid groups won't let you join their static if you don't join their voice chat already. A lot of the savage fights would be very much harder if you did not use voice chat for better communication.

The dev team unofficially advocates the use of third party tools to talk during raiding, and they are free and easily accessible to everyone. The dev team doesn't need to spend time working on this as the third party route means that A) they don't have to develop it, and B) they aren't liable for the many disadvantages of voice chat (harassment, especially females, anxiety, voice identification etc.)

Yoshi P has already addressed this with the opinion of many in this thread. It's an old thread but I doubt the opinion has changed.

TLDR: we can't support it because cons outweigh the pros, we are aware of third party alternatives that you can use and unofficially support your use of them.

As for the OP, You can use discord, and I believe Teamspeak on your phone, so you can have that running while on your PS4. The real solution for this problem would be for Sony to support a Discord/Teamspeak PS4 app (sorry PS3 players, but lack of voice chat is the least of your problems).

You people saying no are just scared , Im sorry but theres plenty of games with in game voice chat and guess what you can mute people and choose not to speak. Not wanting to communicate because your scared you might hear bad people , kids , lions , tigers and bears oh my! What if you hear awsome people willing to teach others how to overcome a battle? What if you learn something instead of being shut off in your own little island? Dear god what if ... you make friends!!!!! ZOMG!!!! Get the tin foil hats!!!

Sounds to me your just too lazy, stubborn, or a kid. "Waaahhh why isn't there voice chat?!" "Well, heres various other options that you can easily use. While not in-game, they provide a great service while the devs can focus on more important things like new content, bug fixes, etc." "Waaaahhhh your just scared!"

Honestly, if communicating with players in-game is so important to you, then use the third-party programs, tablets aren't that expensive and headsets aren't either. Hell, in my last FC we all use Ventrilo to get clear in the coil raids back in 2.0 while almost everyone played on different platforms. Some on PC, some on PS4, we even had a healer on PS3 and we all used the same chat program to clear it and have a good time.

For a player playing an avatar of the opposite gender form their real gender, I suspect that there is an element of breaking immersion when using voice chat. Certainly for myself, I don't think I would be comfortable with voice chat in those circumstances because the 'voice' my imagination gives to my characters would not match my own voice, and that would feel jarring, it also takes me out ofnthe game. However, I don't raid, so it's not an issue.
