Would you change your name?

I'm positive the name is purely aesthetic and has more to do with a unique character identifier associated with your account thus having no bearings on your friendslist/linkshell holding/ black list. Therefore those who have scorned you and made it to your blist would still be on your blist. Those with pristine reputation that made it to your friends list would still be on your list. Kitty Nekostrife, now Dark Shadowstrife will still be in your linkshell.

While this may be true, it still would be extremely confusing and highly unlikely you'd ever completely get it straight in your head.

Why change the length of the names, WHY? I actually enjoy that most of the players put some thought into a first/last name combination. No need to limit it and have thousands of xXSephiroflxXx clones running around.

I don't care if they give us an option to change appearance or gender.

I would change my name if I had the option, rather I'd change my last name.

I would change it to "Renault Cathetel" like my brother's character, Remiel Cathetel. Then our characters could be siblings too.

A One-time Character Selection Change ticket would be nice, and yes, I would like to change my name If I changed my looks, gender, and race. Jack arses are jack arses, eventually they will be a well-known Jack arses on their servers again. I also think The Name changes, and such could be someone's Second Chance.

I don't think everyone should be punished for a few bad apples...
People would still stay in your friendlist and blacklist even if their name changed so the jack asses would be quite easy to track down anyway.
I do think character and it's name builds up on you but I feel that FFXIV is far from what it was at the launch and it will go even further - it will be almost a completely new game in the same wrapping ... and THAT IS WHY I think you should be able to re-do your character (including name and race) to more reflect on what you make of it all.
And yeah, one off thing plz, I don't think it would be a good idea to be able to keep changing your name, not even with a fee.

Oh and one more thing, bad apples are easy to find even after the name change. Even in 11 when people changed servers you would eventually find out who was who and where they went.

A: Are you sure this is a good idea? Continue to give us feedback on the forums! As for the name, currently it may be too long… If we implement the ability to change names, we may want to reduce the length. We’re still thinking about it, so please give us feedback.

I personally would love to change my name to the original Leilani Wildfire... so I am very much for this change.
But what if you for example change from female Mi'gote to a mail cat character and your name is e.g. Minnie Mouse

On topic though, I think name changes wouldn't be too bad if you are allowed to change your character's gender. However, if the gender change isn't an option, the names should stay the same.

I wouldn't mind the 1 name change... except for the fact that there are 5 other "Nariko"'s on my server. ;( I assume they would let whoever logs in first to 2.0 keep the name but still.... I kinda liked the surname for the fact it was sucha low % that someone else would have the exact name.

Thus:

-I would support name change
-I would support keeping surname
-I would support name shortening *only if surnames were still included just limit to first and last name
