A One-time Character Selection Change ticket would be nice, and yes, I would like to change my name If I changed my looks, gender, and race. Jack arses are jack arses, eventually they will be a well-known Jack arses on their servers again. I also think The Name changes, and such could be someone's Second Chance.

As I mentioned in a similar thread... I'm strongly against the idea of name changes.

The only way to tell "who is who" in-game is by their name. If people's names change at 2.0, everyone will be totally anonymous again. It'll be like a total game reboot rather than a large patch. People's reputations will be gone, and you'll likely lose contact with some friends or LS mates.

I just can't see an advantage to allowing name changes. Race, sure, knock yourself out. But your name is your identity, and it shouldn't change.

I'm unhappy with a name I once liked.. I would like to change my miqo'te's first name only. Would be willing to pay to do so if we don't get the option with our free remake at 2.0 launch.

I'm agaist it, if nothing else then that would "allow" people to act like jerks without any kind of penalty from the comunity, namelly bad reputation and current /blist.

I don't think you should be able to change your name. The one reason why I don't think it should be allowed is because all the jack arses that ruined there reputation on the server they currently reside will have a free witness protection program.

As for all this... Perhaps SE could put the character's old name in plain view, along with their new name for a month or two. To prevent such reputation loss. So we who just want a simple name change, to find something we're happy with, don't have to miss out because of jerks.

Also, we don't know yet if there will be a way to keep friend lists and LS lists. There may be.

I'm positive the name is purely aesthetic and has more to do with a unique character identifier associated with your account thus having no bearings on your friendslist/linkshell holding/ black list. Therefore those who have scorned you and made it to your blist would still be on your blist. Those with pristine reputation that made it to your friends list would still be on your list. Kitty Nekostrife, now Dark Shadowstrife will still be in your linkshell.
