    Lag or Rubber Banding?

    So not entirely sure what to call it, but I've noticed the past few days/weeks that I've been having some issues whenever I get into a dungeon or raid. I'm not sure what the technical term for it is, but I noticed that everything will freeze for 1-2 seconds then snap back into action. I don't ever get DC'd but it's almost impossible to play a game when every 10 or so seconds everything freezes then goes back to being normal. This SEEMS limited to when I'm in dungeons and raids..I don't believe it happens elsewhere, or at least I haven't noticed it.

    Is this a hardware issue? A connection issue? Any suggestions on ways to fix it? Any help or knowledge would be very much appreciated.

    My OS: Windows 7 Professional with i7 Processor. 3.60 GHZ
    16GB Ram of memory.

    Internet: Comcast (Paying for their highest speed).
    When I performed a speed test I got these results:
    IPv4 Upload= 9.91MBPS Download=95.74MBPS
    IPv6 Upload= 11.98MBPS Download=175.64MBPS

    I have Comcast as well and the rubber banding just got real bad outta nowhere a bit ago.

    Yea been going on for a week for me, I was told by Comcast to "upgrade" my modem for one more suited to the speed I pay for. So gonna do that tomorrow but not sure that will solve the issue. Was told by a friend of mine that it might have something to do with my ISP/Networking.

    I hope I'm wrong, but unfortunately getting new modem (router?) probably won't fix it. Unless Comcast have it so that if customers who "upgrade" get routed differently that is...

    Based on multiple posts on here from other Comcast customers it seems the problem is that Comcast send the traffic to the Square Enix servers via a company called Level 3 and L3 are very good at dropping/delaying packets, especially at peak times. So when that happens, that's when you start to see rubber banding. You probably don't notice it outside of dungeons as most other things aren't as "real time".

    Why they send via L3 is probably a cost thing, cheaper for Comcast, but also means not much you personally can do to fix it. You can try and get Comcast to route around/not go via L3 (they probably will refuse though), or you can use another ISP who doesn't go via Level 3 or you can use a VPN service (to try and route you around Level 3 without Comcast doing it)

    This is not just an issue you're having. Since last Friday, I've been having the same problems as well--frequent lag and disconnects whenever I enter any duty, be it 4-man, 8-man, or 24-man (though it's the worst in 24-man).

    I have checked my connection speed, and it's fine. I recently relocated my PS4 to a more comfortable area, so I wondered at first if it was experiencing interference, but my Wi-Fi signal is fine, and it's been moved for 2 weeks prior to the lag and disconnects.

    The game has become almost completely unplayable--I can't do my roulettes or my weekly Weeping City for my drops because I lag out within the first few seconds of the dungeon. I sent a report in-game to SE about it, so maybe if enough people do that, they will look into it, but a lot of people have been having these issues for a while...

    I'm getting it from the UK too, not via Comcast & not routed via Level 3 - even though I play on Primal. Started around the time of Yo-kai release but worsening with Moonfire... Coincidence?

    Hmmm... you make a good point here. I didn't have any issues when Yo-kai started, but after Moonfire came out, that was around when I started having all these problems. I did find it odd that they didn't take down the servers for the usual maintenance before beginning a new event, and instead it just sort of popped into existence. I wonder if that could have threw some things off.

    I would wonder if it would be server congestion, if this wasn't happening to me super late at night/early in the morning when there's not that much traffic.


    EDIT: Also, OP, I don't have Comcast, but AT&T, so I don't think it's your modem. Don't listen to them about "upgrading" it--I don't trust Comcast at all! D:
