What keeps you playing FFXIV?

My FC, our weekly and monthly events, my static and our progression through alex midas. I have a lot to grind right now between Moonfire Faire, Yo-Kai, and relic, which isn't great. I'm not in love with the excessive grinding but it's something to do. Besides making machinima, of course.

Nothing.
I come back every big patch, play a few days, leave until the next one or come back right before to play catch up.
I've been doing this for so long but I always come back, it sucks that when I do it's for a very short time.
I hope to see some really big changes come 4.0 in all honesty. Nothing they do right now feels all that 'fresh' y'know?
Or just was good idea on paper but turned into crap.

Not much lately. I haven't actually played in about a month now. I logged on once last Friday to get the Moonfire event armor, and I'm sure I'll log on again to get the music and emotes. But, there's nothing exciting or engaging to keep me playing lately.

The fact that I don't feel I need to play constantly.

If I was decked out in upgraded lore, I'd probably be settled for all content I do in the next two patches without a single upgrade. The highest iLvL requirement for me right now is i205, since I don't do EX nor Savage. That's not even fully upgraded eso. Very easy to keep up, so I can devote my time to whatever I feel like - alting, on rare occasions crafting, recently PvP a lot, after a new patch hits usually getting the newest glam items, sometimes playing other games.

It's a solid ground base, but I'd probably be burned out from it if it was the "only" thing I ever play.

Friends that I know on a forum for too long is what keeps me playing I guess. However, stuff really changed with this game for me. None of my friends do savage content or ex stuff with me or never.... so I stuck with progressing myself, tbh. I have a feeling I'll quit sometime but definitely not now :P
