What keeps you playing FFXIV?

Honestly right now its only the storyline, I am consdering just resubbing every 6 months, do the story and sidequest and stop playing untill they have released more MSQ. I tend to level classes or do PvP, but my final battle class is almost 60 and PvP is a mess in this game. One thing that I am starting to dislike is how they are stuck in a status que, aside from new ideas (which are failures, in my opinion) 3.0 is a carbon copy of 2.0.

It doesnt help for me that Diadem, Lord of Verminion and Palace of Dead are boring content.

Things to clear and farm. Like birds from extream trials and gears from savage raids. Also the story and I want to get everything to 60. Playing with my friends in real life and the ones I made online

New outfits and stuff, but some of the can be a real pain to get. Like, summer sandals and the gear from raids. And, I always try to play all of the new content, but the Yokai Watch event takes up all of my time right now.

aside from just enjoying playing (even if I log in just for daily stuff, which could take maybe an hour) its 1 of the few games I play that I haven't got so tired of I stopped playing it (Destiny, Fallout, Dragon Age 3... a few others) & FF14 was the game I went to after another game who's servers died/shutdown... FF14 is a part of my "Rut" of a life (a life style I made & enjoy)

Minus the elitists. The community of this game is by far the funnest i've ever been apart of. Since I'm obssesed with glamouring, that keeps me here as well. It's a lot of things. When I log into this game, it feels as if most of my problems disappear.

Story, music and glamour. The story and music dies down of course after experiencing it multiple times, which leaves glamour as the only reason for me to continue after a 3 month interval waiting for new content. I'd say community but with the system currently the way it is I'm not sure I'd even count that as a reason to play.

Plenty of endgame content is locked behind 8 player groups and I can que up for 3 hours for some savage or extreme mode I can't try because players already done it or there's other content to be ran. Doing this also severs links to certain players. Statics are nice, really they are, but making it in such a way is singling out players. If SE would allow players to use these modes in df at the start I would mention these challenges but they're not all that accessible as of now.

The battle system is highly "meh". I don't consider it much of one other than being flashy. Except for the caster classes and range ones of course, they seem more fit for these things (target system and all). You really don't get much oonf in doing attacks other than the players who love seeing big numbers. I prefer impact over math. Not saying it doesn't matter as it's all math in just about everygame, but at least they're better at giving the player a feel of strength other than having to visually show it with numbers.

Its a theme park. Saying that kinda bores me but it is what it is. You seen the rides, you made the points, heard the jingles and enjoyed the sights. You can tell people to craft everything in game or level everything to max, but that won't count as player content that gives a reason to continue playing. Now I played Dark Souls 3. I played the game and don't feel like playing it anymore because I'm bored of it now. How can i get bored. I did just about everything and anything else would be repeating the same thing over again. Then a buddy tells me to upgrade all the weapons and armor, there's still much to do dude. Pretty much that. Except with that game you get pvp which makes it more worth playing if your into that, plus that always changes. 14 doesn't have much of that and is completely nullified with GC Alliances, lack of innovative modes and 1v1v1 battles. If you played pvp you know what I mean.

For some, these things are not worth it for a subscription based mmo. Kind of why I took my 3 month break from the game and came back for the story. I love my friends, but I think I have more respect for myself to know when enough is enough.

No friends left, no FC mates left, no openly recruiting FCs, and on most hours no PF even, apart from multi-star crafters selling their goods or runs being sold, so I guess it would have to be... hmm. Hmmm.

Goddamn, why am I playing?... The combat, maybe? I don't mind a quick jog through a couple trials for a chance at a mount, etc. I guess quick access to check the most recent patch/build of skills to check my math on any suggestions I may make?

My FC is literally the only thing holding me to this game. Every day when I get home from work, I say to myself "Hm, do I want to play FF14, or do I want to play a FUN game?" It's more of an obligation than a leisure activity. Sometimes I get into the mood to play... then I play for a couple hours, remember that the game is boring and tedious, and go play something that doesn't make me want to chew my arms off to escape. It's probably because I'm mostly leveling classes right now, and ignoring the story... but that's because the story missions, the big ones especially, are a double scoop of tedium with a spoonful of mediocre cutscenes and bad voice acting sprinkled lightly on top. I haven't gotten beyond Rock the Castrum yet, but every time I think of doing the mission I groan, roll my eyes, and reach for any other game I own.

But dangit, my FC-mates are just the best, most fun people. It's hard to leave when you've got such a good bunch of people together.

Friends/fc/raid static. The game itself is ok atm, but has lost its luster for awhile now. I always thought the jobs were always lacking and/or ok, nothing great. It's almost as if they focused so hard to be different, that they forgot to add fun class moves.
The past 5 patches gets me excited at first till i read and noticed without my friends. None of the new content really gets me pumped up to log in for. The story was nice till im road blocked to play an alt because i dont need to do the story a 2nd time. Now im doing maps with friend's for money which i don't need since there is nothing to buy, or doing potd cuz im to lazy make play ff14 as a 2nd job to relic grind. I dont pvp, rp, or need any lore or hunt seals. In the end as long as I can enjoy the company of my friends. I'll be still playing.
