Friends, keeping my houses, crafting, making tons of gil is fun, glamour, and one day I'll get back into raiding when my crafting obsession wears off. There's a lot to do, basically, and there's no other MMO out there that satisfies my needs (Trust me, I try out new MMOs when I run low on XIV juice every once in a while, but it just helps me appreciate what I have here).
A mentor stole my house, slapped me across the face, and raised my ping from 15 to 30. Literally unplayable.

Just the complete package, I guess? ^^°
I played several MMOs before I came to FFXIV, I still try new ones for a bit on the side.
They all might have that ONE thing that is better than it is in FFXIV, but at the same time, 500 things that are worse.
There just isn't one single feature I care about enough to drop everything else for it, you know?
Things I especially love that I can't get anywhere else:
This particular job-system and that I can do everything on one single character.
That there is so much unique content to do that I never even manage to finish before the next batch arrives.
Just how incredibly beautiful the game is, especially characters, but also the world, gear design, etc.
Very very huge for me - the story focus (and interesting story too)! The lack of this is 99% of the time the reason why I drop other MMOs.
Also, I'm very comfortable here. Leaving means starting from scratch somewhere else.
I like that I know what each item does, what skills each class have, that I am max level on most classes, etc.
To get me to give that up, another MMO would need to be absolutely amazing in every aspect, and such a MMO simply doesn't exist.
Needed to add a category to fill this fun little list out too >:3
Main Story - yaaay!
Side Quests - done/no
Crafting/Gathering - between yay and done
Glamour - YAY
Mount-/Minionfarming - yay-ish?
Raiding - yay/no (really depends on the raid content)
Housing - YAY
Minigames - done
24-man Raids - yay
Sightseeing - yaaay^^
Beasttribes - no
Dungeons - yay/done (once again, really depends on the dungeon)
Seasonal events - yay
Leveling multiple classes - done
Mentoring - yay-ish
Making Gil - just, no D:
Relic Weapons - "done" fits the most, except for, that I actually am not done yet...and am long past the point where I hate it..but I still want to finish..x.x

Reason(s) I stay: My friends and FC.
Main Story - Done
Side Quests - Done
Crafting/Gathering - I have WVR and MIN at 60 but the rest are all below 50. Leveling them is boring
Glamour - Always need more Glamour, ALWAYS
Mount-/Minion-farming - Meh, don't really care :/
Raiding - No thank you. I tried to do a Static with my FC right before AS 5-8 came out, made me not want to be around them and a dreaded every Raid Day.
Housing - My FC has a mansion, so I don't need a house
Minigames - The GS minigames are lame, Triple Triad is a grind, LoV is non-existent
24-man Raids - Have it on Farm
Sightseeing - To much work for little reward
Beasttribes - Still need to finish the Amalj'aa, Sajagin, and Ixal but it's so boring and I don't care about their stories... :-B
Dungeons - Have it on Farm
Seasonal events - Done
Leveling multiple classes - Still have to level but it's so boring and I have all the Jobs I like playing as at 60.
Mentoring - Mentoring is a mess in this game. People are becoming mentors because they want a crown next to their name and they want the achievement rewards, not because they actually want to help people.
Making Gil - Yeah, no. :/
Relic Weapons - Slowly working on it but we all know the Relic Weapon is going to be replaced come a patch or two, which makes it feel like I'm grinding for nothing.

I never intended for this list, but I like it. I'll chime in with mine.
Main Story - Done
Side Quests - I have minimap OCD. Gotta to be clear of all quests.
Crafting/Gathering - All crafts, miner and bot to 60. Mainly used to be self sufficient in raid food and potions.
Glamour - Always
Mount-/Minionfarming - very casually
Raiding - Absolutely. Favorite thing to do.
Housing - Have a house but I'm slowly furniting it.
Gold Saucer - Try to remember to daily cactpots, but usually forget. None of the minigames interest me.
24-man Raids - Still doing these for gear, farthings, and machi matter.
Sightseeing - Only when I stumble upon one.
Beasttribes - Usually just get max rank and then forget about them.
Dungeons - I usually only run dungeons to tag along with friends or help out someone new.
Seasonal events - Always.
Leveling multiple classes - I have many classes leveled, but taking a break for now. I keep a tank, melee, caster and healer geared for content. Not interested in leveling more currently.
Mentoring - I enjoy mentoring
Making Gil - Haven't since favor farming became useless.
Relic Weapons - I'm casually doing this. Currently at 146/240. Damn umbrite takes too long to get when you barely run roulettes.
Deep Dungeon - I really enjoy this. Got a couple of weapons and probably grab a few more.

To me, this is exactly how I feel and couldn't have said it better. I'll still dabble in other games, and some are great, but FFXIV has so much more. Of course there are things that could be better, but I don't think you'll find a game anywhere that does as much as this game does as well as it does it.Just the complete package, I guess? ^^°

Sums it up for me, too.the complete package
Even with an endgame progression that's too heavy on raiding, FFXIV offers a great package and doesn't require the playtime of a second job. I still dabble in FFXI, as well, and while that game still has its charm, it's just such a grind. XIV has definitely taken XI's place as my favorite MMORPG.

I'm not sure if this is a server thing or what. I've heard lots of negatives about it. I've been a mentor since the day it was released and I've seen a mostly very positive environment. I'll always jump in and help someone with whatever they need as long as I'm free, and I see most all other mentors do the same. There are a few trolls of course, but it's rare.
An honest response is that FFFXIV occasionally has strokes of awesomeness, particularly with its story, but I feel it has been lacking in Heavensward, and updates don't seem to come frequently, even for a very casual player like me.
I do appreciate that there is a lot of content that isn't tied to raiding.
WoW seems to be taking some big strides with their story content with this latest expansion, which has historically been pretty awful. I hop FFXIV can do the same.
At this point, I honestly don't know. I login for a few mins, run Trial and Expert then kinda stand around for a few mins trying to decide what I want to do. Only reason I resubbed a few days ago was cus my blood peppers were growing and didn't want to lose them. I think I am just bored with the classes than anything else.
