I enjoyed* the Yo-kai Crossover Event so much that I got all the weapons twice!

* By enjoyed I mean utterly loathed and wanted to kill myself and was actually thinking about unsubbing for the first time in 6 years (well technically 4 or 5 cause of that 1.0 period where there was no subbing). Not in that exact order.

Please never have another event like that, it was literally the most mind-numbing thing ever. This was supposed to be a promotion, right? Why would the most boring, tedious grind be chosen to advertise another game? Maybe there was a hidden agenda to make FFXIV players dislike Yo-kai so they won't buy it? Maybe there's some kind of Square-Enix and Level-5 drama? Did the two weeks of grinding make me delusional?

The guy from Yo-Kai company is friends with Square Enix, it was his idea to make it hard to get all the weapons. Didn't want it to be easy and not something everyone would accomplish.

I like how in this game "hard" translates to "RNG, tedious, and grind" when not referring to Savage/Extreme battles.

It's not hard though. Just mind numbingly tedious to the point where a good bit of players don't want something like this again.

@The OP I feel you, working on a alt trying to get the weapon and it's such a pain. I'm going to loathe FATEs after doing the alt, I can't imagine starting this on my main =\

The whole point of the event was that you didn't have to do all of it, and that you actually had to put in time if you wanted to get everything done. I'm pretty sure that the guy from the Yo-kai company specifically wanted it to be "long" and not an event you finish completely in an hour and then it gets to stand around like a ghost town for 80% of the time it's active. Unfortunately, the only way to do an event that's available to all players without being a copy & paste of the Lightning event will require FATEs and RNG. Though I will concede that doing something similar to the lightning event where parts of the event unravel every week or so is much more gratifying than an Atma farm, and will not test the sanity of players who feel compelled to fully complete it. All in all, it probably could have been handled better, but I'm sure that more time was spent in creating the weapon designs and the minions than anything else.

I mean yeah, but we can't use that excuse for everything. We don't "have" to do anything in this game, and I'm sure some things that start a certain way were meant to be that way. Doesn't mean folks can't take issue with it and ask the devs to not make something like it occur again.
