    New PVP Game Mode Ideas

    Hello everyone, as an avid fan of pvp game play, I feel that FFXIV is lacking in regards to it's pvp. Not to say that pvp can't work in this game more so that the game modes haven't been as enjoyable as they could. Personally I see Seal Rock as the pinnacle of pvp game modes, that being said I have yet to try Shatter and The feast is another beast entirely. That being said I haven't heard promising things about shatter. Seal Rock, wasn't perfect, with it's random control spawns however, I do feel it was much more enjoyable than Borderland Ruins. I believe that is mainly to attribute to it's pvp focused objective where players fight other players for objectives not kill NPCs as objective with other players just there as a hindrance. Here are some Ideas I've thrown around about possible modes that could be introduced to help the pvp in this game which, I feel is it's only real shortcoming that has yet to be fixed.

    Ul'Dah Gladitorial Arena

    (1.) Creation of the Ul'dah Gladitorial Arena. A 1vs1, 2vs2 or 4 player free for all death match where players fight around, structures, environmental hazards and traps that they can use to their advantage. There would be a a ranked version of both the 1vs1 and 2vs2 brackets and an unranked of all three. Rewards for both unranked/ranked participation as well as high/top placement in the ranked season.

    Capture the Flag

    (2.) A neutral or team based capture the flag mode. There are many ways to implement this.

    - For neutral capture the flag both teams could fight over a single neutral flag that spawns in the center or other locations or have multiple spawn around the map. The flags could have a set value or be worth more the father they spawn from your base. They could also be guarded by creatures players would have to dispatch before claiming them, have a interruptable pick up time or simply be instant pick ups. First team to obtain the set amount of flags wins, or have the most flags once the time runs out, wins.

    - Team based capture the flag is more simple but, could still have some variety such as the ability to steal back flags your enemies have stolen from you. First team to obtain the set amount of flags, or have the highest number at the end of the round, wins.

    Protect the King/VIP

    (3.) A VIP or Kill the king type game mode.

    - In Nuetral Protect the VIP/King teams could fight for control of an object that while in a team's possession increases their score. The item could be match permanent or only last for a fraction of the score needed before it drops and another spawns. First to the determined score or whoever has the highest score at the end of the round wins.

    - In Team Protect the VIP/King each team would have have one players as the King/VIP. The VIP would have higher stats, such as hp, defense and damage to allow for more challenge. However, the longer that the VIP/King is alive his power decreases to the point they become as easy to kill as a normal player and even weaker still should they survive. When a team kills the opposing team's VIP/King they are awarded a point. the team that reaches the determined score or has the highest score after the time runs out wins.
