It could just be settingsure. I'm not 100% sure.

If you're emulating an XBOX controller, make sure that the in-game settings are changed to reflect that. FFXIV will sometimes just default to another controller setting and you need to select XBOX specifically.

I know this would happen to me on occasion with a PS4 controller via Input Mapper (DS4). I'm not familiar with using a PS3 controller or if it is even compatible/recognized by FFXIV.

Instead of Motionjoy better use ScpToolkit (XInput Wrapper aka ScpServer Reloaded)

    - its free
    - has signed drivers (important for 64 bit Windows)
    - no Adware
    - Open Source

In some games I use a program called "joy2key" that makes the controller emulate keyboard strokes. I'm not sure if its better or worse than what you're already using though.

I use a 3rd party wired ps3 controller made by rock candy. I Chose it because the D pad an analog positions are switched, making it easier to operate the D pad with my right hand if I want to continue moving.

The game seems to pick up my controller fine (no need for any software addons). I had problems when I used to use a bluetooth controller, usually the controller randomly losing its input signals and then reconnecting.

    First, Uninstall that malware.

Second, download a decent application. If you want something simple go with ds4windows. If you want something that you can make some good macros with get InputMapper. I would not recommend anything else i've tried them all and these are by far the best.

Third, which ever one you choose, you'll need to set it up correctly. For ds4windows you'll need exclusive mode on. When you rin FFXIV go to system settings > controller > select controller should be xbox 360 controller not wireless controller. After that calibrate the buttons.
