Practical application for Deep Breath and Last Ditch?

Deep Breath - nullifies wear increase for 300 GP, something you can do with two Utmost Cautions for 100 GP less.
Last Ditch - low collectability increase beyond 30/30 wear when you have only 10% chanceto hit anything.
What's the reason for these two skill to exist? Are they used in some obscure rotations?

A lot of the collectability skills seem poorly thought-out. Instinctual Appraisal is another one; for 15 durability, you have a CHANCE of doing up to 1.5 potency. So, for 30 durability, you can do anywhere between 1.6 to 3.0 potency. OR, you can do boring ol' Methodical Appraisal three times and get a guaranteed 3.0 potency for 30 durability.

I used to think that SE would add advanced collection nodes to the game that would make it a necessity to get a lucky Instinctual to have a chance of reaching high rarity (Discerning Eye can boost a lucky Instinctual to 4.5; two of them boost to 9.0 for 200 GP, whereas you'd need 300 GP to reach the same numbers with Methodical), but nothing like that ever arose. Mathematically speaking I'm not sure that other skills wouldn't STILL be more reliable, even with these hypothetical nodes.

Deep Breath does have one questionable use. If you use it, then Methodical twice, and it still hasn't triggered, then you KNOW your final Appraisal is gonna be free. You can load up a DE and use Instinctual, and hope for big numbers. I think that's what SE was expecting it to be used for. That's a lot of RNG to depend on, though - need Deep Breath to trigger on the third hit, and your Instinctual to be a high one. Frankly, the methods the community have come up with for Impulsive Appraisal are a lot more reliable.

If you get pretty darn lucky and get 2 impulsives with 1.5 potency, you'd still be getting 3.0 potency with 30 item wear, but with ONLY 2 swings. That is equivalent to saving 200 GP on a single mind and 3 methodical appraisals.

Granted, the benefits of using instinctual appraisal are not as evident as using the good old impulsive appraisal where you can see right off the bat the results: did I get a proc? Yes, next step of the rotation. No? Try again or reset.

But what really gets me about it is that the risk is too big for such a small reward. If you dont get at least 1.3, youve already wasted 5 wear which is 100 GP on a utmost caution. Not to mention the times it gets BELOW 1.0 potency. I still believe there might be some obscure rotations out there where they make a decent use of instinctual appraisal and deep breath, but currently theres no need to use those over impulsive and/or utmost caution.

You can bypass the character limit by editing your previous entry and adding in the additional text. You'll notice that my post above has WELL over 1000 characters. I did this by writing the whole post, then cut all but one paragraph, and then posted. I then edited the post, and pasted back in the portion that I cut.

The point of instinctual is to save your number of hits. Instead of 3 hits for 3.0 you could gamble 3 hits for 3.0. I sometimes do this. Or at least I did when I played more.

There are skills I never use collecting. Deep Breath, Instinctual Appraisal, and Last Ditch are most of them.

The only practical application of Deep Breath I've found is on the very rare occasion when you get a -250 GP bonus on your first action while gathering a legendary collectable.

Last Ditch seems to only have use when a mistake is made.
