Relatively new to the game and new to MMOs

Hey there!

I'm a big RPG player in general but this is the first MMO I really enjoyed enough to stick with it more than a few days. I've been playing for around 2 or 3 months pretty much alone the whole time but that hasn't bothered me that much since I've been enjoying the game a lot. That said I would like to get into all the aspects of the game but there is a lot I either don't know or don't understand. I don't really know how free companies or how the market work or if I should be doing something else to be getting money effectively or pretty much anything besides the main story quests. Mostly I don't know how to aproach the social content but I would like to since I really like the game.

You dont mention if youre playing on a playstation or a PC, but this advice applies to both. The easiest way to get into the "social content" in the game is to be social. The next dungeon you get in, chat with the other players a bit between pulls/at the start. Even if its just telling a stupid joke or two(how many players intentionally chose silly names you can laugh at? i notice them ALL the time). Ive often had people ask at/near the end of a run which server i was on to see if they could continue teaming/chatting with me in the future. And if you are playing on a PS3/4, get a USB keyboard. Play the game using the gamepad, thats fine and a matter of personal preference. But communicating is SO much better when you can just type.

Another solution: advertise yourself. A lot of people put up party finder groups inviting people to join their FCs or the LSs, you could do that in reverse. At some point when youve got a little downtime online you could put up a PF group that basically says youre looking for an FC/LS that does ______(decide what you want, and ask for it) and you can question whoever gets in touch.

If you are on PS3/4 use of keyboard is a must and also there are free chat programs out there, our Free Company uses Discord as example.
A good place to start would be in the server specific section, hopefully you can find a FC that suits you there

Thanks for the replies! I play on PC with a PS4 controller. Gonna start to use party finder and try to find an FC.
