Question to Dark knights from a WHM

So, this question has plagued me since returning back to FFXIV. I main whm and have gotten used to doing my aoe rotation on trash pulls but because I have seen a surge in my encounter with said job. I have questions.

Do you hate it when a WHM does their holy rotation on trash mobs especially when you have blood price up?

Do you also cringe when you see a WHM in your dungeon roulette because I've reach that place where i say f**k, there goes my holy. I also feel bad about popping holy then see you have blood price, cause I know you need mp for the next pull.

I ask this only because I encounter them more then I used to, so I worry if some are annoyed with holy as I am to blood price.

In the end I just want to know what the general opinion is about this. I know I've seen a thread about this very topic some months ago before leaving but I wanted to see if thoughts have changed.

Depends. What has more potency? Whm holy or abs drain? Bearing in mind I myself do big pulls so you probs be too busy healing I imagine.

I've never minded or noticed tbh. I wouldn't feel bad about it thoug . My MP management is my job to worry about not yours. If I use too many ABs that's what sole survivor is there for, and god forbid a drk uses CnS for mana on a trash pull. The healer has enough to worry about with dpsing while keeping me alive you shouldn't have to worry about my dps and mana also.

If you're using Holy, then that means you're dpsing. I like that.

You don't have any control over when I decide to use BP. If I'm using BP when most of the mobs are stunned and can't hit me, that's my problem, not yours. The stuns from Holy have diminishing returns anyways, and I'll have a pretty good sense of your timing within the first couple of pulls. The same is true for a lot of cooldowns as well. If I'm burning Shadow Wall at a time when the mobs are going to be stunned for most of its duration, then that was a misjudgement on my part.

A lot of MP issues result from not using SoSu correctly or spending too much time in Grit, locking you out of BW. BP isn't really the problem.

If you get asked to stop using Holy because of your DRK's MP issues, ask them to turn off Darkside momentarily after the pull so that your BRD can play them an MP regeneration song on the world's smallest violin.

I hate when a whm uses a holy as any class I play because it blinds me and makes it impossible for me to see what's happening on my screen.

It tends to work out. The stun from holy is a lot of damage mitigation and also a decent chunk of damage, which means that I don't need to pop expensive buffs. The mana I'd have lost from BP is made back from the mana I'm not having to use on other stuff. Then you throw in the benefit of MOAR DAMAGE = GO FAST I'm usually pretty happy about you using Holy.

Goes to show how little I knew of the job. That they had other ways for mp.

Most df tanks usually only pick up 2 pack. 3 is when i still have problems but i get by. probably because i barely get those tanks.

@Khalithar I also wish that holy wasn't so bright, gives me headaches playing at night lol.

@Lyth yeah, I naturally got into dpsing. With how the skills whm has now, its pretty easy to get the hang of it.

My enjoyment about seeing a holying WHM usually overshadows the loss of my blood price.

I've honestly never had a problem holding aggro off a WHM in the lv60 range. In fact, like most of the people, if the pull is small enough, then I would gladly welcome a major boost to dps.

I agree that it's easy enough to manage your MP as a Dark Knight, especially with Soul Survivor, but I normally pull enough that it would be a very stupid idea to take off Grit. In smaller situations, Healer + Cleric Stance will always be better than a 20% boost to my damage, so the less I'm taking, the longer the healer can remain in cleric stance. Granted, I'm not saying that you spam the Power Slash combo and there's a lot of benefit from maximizing your damage within Grit.

As a DRK I honestly prefer that the WHM run ahead, pull with Aero, Swiftcast, and Holy the whole mob group, and continue spamming it til DRed while I AoE to grab threat. I'll pop BP as DR drops your stun down to 2 seconds or less.
