Regarding racial/gender/name changes for 2.0

Well, the previous thread requesting missing genders was scoring well over 1.5k replies, and I don't really think anyone will skim through the whole of that again, I thought I'd make a new thread, so people apart from the regular lurkers aren't put off by the sheer size of it, specifically regarding the request by Yoshi that we voice our opinions on how we should be allowed to change our characters once 2.0 comes.

He previously stated that we would be allowed to change our characters, since the graphics of the new engine might be different, additional race genders being introduced and some other details I do not quite remember.

Lately, he's become a bit more cautious however, such as in the recent live video

A: Are you sure this is a good idea? Continue to give us feedback on the forums! As for the name, currently it may be too long… If we implement the ability to change names, we may want to reduce the length. We’re still thinking about it, so please give us feedback.

Personally, I would like to change my character entirely when the new version hits. The options back in the day weren't particularly fancy, and since he previously suggested that you would indeed be allowed to change, I'd find it cruel if it turns out that you won't be able after all.

There's the race, name, gender and model. What do you think? Do you agree? Please comment, to bring the general opinion on this to the devs.

I'm definitely not going to change my name, but would not be opposed to the idea, though it will be terrible trying to figure out who my friends are again and getting used to their names if they do. Race changes? Most definitely. Appearance changes? Of course. Gender changes? Yes. There will be new genders, I think it's a given.

The reason for the name changes would basically be, if you played a female or male character before with a gender-specific name, it would sound really odd if they had to keep the name.

Oh, no, don't get me wrong, I understand that. I'm just saying I wouldn't make use of the opportunity.

Definitely not changing my name either, but I'm really hoping they allow you to re-customize your character entirely.

I'd be unhappy if I had to change my name due to new length restrictions, but...

How many 'yes, for the fiftieth time, being able to change race/gender when new customisation options and genders for races are added is important to us' posts do we need before the point gets made? >_>

I personally have no plans to change anything major about my character. I'm happy with my name, my race, and my gender.

However, there are people that made characters that were a second choice, because they couldn't play what they really wanted (male miq'ote, female roegadyn, female highlander). But those three initially missing options will now be available in 2.0, and I think everyone should have a one time option to completely re-customize their character.
