    Targeting PRIORITY options. Please add it!

    I wrote this on the battle mechanics forum but didn't get much attention so i'm reposting it here:

    Targeting idea

    Allow a targeting option to allow target priority to be cone shaped. Being able to select targets from closest to furthest away in a fan shape would prove to be leaps and bounds ahead of the current targeting system.


    from right to left, or left to right (depending on direction you press) selects the next mob closest to you moving out in a "V" cone.

    left to right:

    which is what we currently have

    Something like this would work great when trying to target mobs that you are engaged with espesially after the link system.

    What the fk is the difference between Target mode A and C because both say "All" for me, and do the exact same thing.

    The "Nearest" targeting doesnt exist at all.

    And please give me an option to turn of "Target what is Targetting me", its SOOO annoying being forced to a specific target because its hitting me.

    Because you don't play with a controller. You need a controller for Target Mode A to switch the target type. Target Mode C is just All and not more.

    And please give me an option to turn of "Target what is Targetting me", its SOOO annoying being forced to a specific target because its hitting me.
    Look at Menu -> Config

    Those are actually the default fkey functions... thanks for the glib response to a huge problem in the games keyboard controls though... clearly the issue is my inability to find ways around the shitty design.

    How about why does the party menu not show You the Player on the top of the party menu on the UI? I guess I'll have to wait for 2.0 for that.

    heh why??!. that is quiet good how it is..

    when you got attacked by someone he is already selected and you just need to press enter... and not tab and enter instead..
    that makes real sense. im not sharing your opinion at all.

    that is in most every MMO out of there..

    spaming fire spells regardless on which target, eh? XD

    what would maybe be good, that you can have two target selections. a friendly target and a hostile target.. and then when you want to cure its casted on the friendly target, and when you want to cast a dd spell, its casted on your hostile target.

    like the system in WAR

    I often have myself selected for buffs, or have someone targeted for healing. When I then want to cast an offensive spells, I don't retarget but use subtarget instead - this is what it's for.

    And in case of let's say, WAR/PLD, you will have your primary target, but will want to pull the ads with provoke, want to collusion/cover someone. With current subtargeting, you will still have to cycle through ALL the targets regardless of you being able to execute the skill on them or not.

    That's pretty much what auto-setting the subtarget filter would do, I think having two targets selected would be a bit confusing to code and maybe even confusing for the player too.

    What they need to fix is that stupid TAB bar on the bottom of my stupid screen so I can see the stupid cracks during the stupid ifrit fight because it's really just stupid that everytime I target him it pops up.

    lol im gona agree wityh the op the current targeting system needs to c hange i hate clicking something and it actualy targets a mob way across the map at the very edge of my posable target range when i want to target the mob in front of me
