I have been using mode b since it was implemented.

The two gripes i have are the following

    1) Nearest enemy targeting is based on character position and not the cameras. (though this is a global problem)

I can't count the amount of times that i have hit r (the button i have nearest enemy set to) and targeted myself.

    2) The thing that catches me up most times is that the change target filter buttons are the same as the buttons to change your active hot bar. when you have the hot bar set to always display like i do accidentally switching away from the enemy only setting to party or friendly happens way to often.

The target falls just a little bit sooner then you were expecting and at the same moment you go to switch between hotbars. Seems you're not locked onto a target any more the up and down keys revert to switch filter mode. then you stand there like a gimboid for a couple micro seconds wondering why the hell your not attacking. And then you feel like a moron of the highest order.

Wait you can change your active hotbar without clicking with the mouse? (Keyboard only)

Do you use enemy only targeting? I never have this issue. Depending on your targeting mode, it puts priority on how you target. I never have an issue of targeting something extremely far from me. It always targets what is nearest to me. I just don't see your issue in the game. We had what you wanted at first, like I said, and it wasn't any better than what we currently had.

I don't mind if you played since Alpha.

I play with target style A with enemy only filter (left/right targets mobs up down targets PT members)

This is how it currently works :

    ---|-O1--------------O5|---
    ----|----------O2------|----
    -----|----O3----------|-----
    ------|---------------|------
    --------|----O4----|--------
    ---------------X------------

You are X and the camera is perfectly center behind you. Under our current targeting priorities if you cycle through the mobs left to right the fist mob to be selected will be mob: O1 followed by O3 > O4 > O2 > O5.

    if you cycle right to left it goes O5 > O2 > O4 > O3 > O1

If you want to target the closest mob ( O4 ) you have to at least target two other mobs to get to it UNLESS you swing your camera so mob O4 is the left most or right most mob in your field of vision.

    THIS IS WHAT I PROPOSE:

I would like an OPTION to have targeting to be Radial (closest to furthest ) from your field of view. if this were the case
then mob O4 would be the first to be targeted.

    If you go from left to right it would go O4 > O3 > O2 > O1 > O5

    from right to left O4 > O3 > O2 > O5 > O4

How often in game are you trying to target something further away then something close to you? Not often enough to have this current targeting system as the standard or at the very least the only option.

The action is always in front of you 99.9% of the time the action is closer to your character than further away. Having a targeting system that reflects that only makes sense.

maybe is should draw a picture.

How are you supposed to change the target focus (enemy, friendly, all) via a gamepad only? I can't seem to figure this out. Do you have to map a button? None of the native ones do anything.

Also, on that same note, how are you supposed to access the chocobo call, food pack etc buttons on a gamepad only?

For me, I push down on the left analog stick and press X,Y,A or B. I use a Logitech controller. I don't remember setting this up, but I just discovered it by accident.

For the sake of Stronghold-style NMs with several henchmen mobs, it's be nice to be able to just click F12 or something have have the nearest NM targeted automatically.
