issues with targeting something on the edge of the draw distance before targeting something right in front of you came up multiple times while in a SH party today.
It's not too late to add it into patch 1.21 SE! you got 4 more weeks!
Maybe in time for patch 1.22?
Was playing black mage in Cutters Cry today. It really sucks when using a game pad and you go to target the Guadian thats right in front of you, but instead you get the soldier ant thats not within casting range.
This needs to be addressed in one form or another please.
Is targeting going to be updated in Ver 1.x Ver 2.0 or not at all?
Can we get a target priority option please?
Pretty please?
Pretty pretty please!?
I hope they will have it somewhere before 2.0. Adding it after 2.0 will be too late.

As a returning player I found this topic bcause of my frustration with targeting. Has there ever been a patch or response from the devs?
No. They better improve their targeting system with 2.0, it's one of the biggest nuisances of the battle system.
I stopped counting the times I had to cycle through ALL the targets before that damn thing finally targeted the mob that was in front of me the whole time.
Not to mention such nice quirks like still being able to target friendly mobs when your targeting filter is set to enemy only.

As still a rather recent player to the game, it some what annoys me that a current PC-only game has so many users using a game pad and from what I've been told by multiple people is that this game is DESIGNeD for gamepad users... wow. I find them a little sluggish, even when palying on consoles. Can we not get a little optimized for KEYBOARD users? I never had to even touch the mouse in XI, I was able to do everything via keybaord.
But now that that gripe is out of the way, is there a simple command to attack what a specific party member is targetting, such as /assist or an F key to target your battle target or even a /a <bt>? XI had a great targetting system and adapting to this one is just not happening for me, and it's been a few months that I've been playing now.
I'd consider myself a "hardcore" player in a few aspects, but I feel I'm being held back in this game with it's current system. I definitly need to look at the config when I get home, maybe there's just something I'm missing. I have no trouble solo'ing, but trying to pick out the battle target in a group is next to impossible (rather, I feel that 5-10 seconds of trying to find it really slows down the game). I feel one of my greatest downfalls regarding this game is I compare it to XI too often. I should really stop doing that! Haha.
I found that /assist "Player" is in the game
The fix for keyboard players is that you can actually set closest NPC/ enemy to an actual key through the targeting tab. You can also select engaged enemy, etc as well. With that specific tab, it takes away all my complaints to the targeting system.
This still doesn't fix the game pad players though, and the limited button option will always be a problem as well. I'm sure you could easily make a macro to solve this, however.... Seeing as the commands are in the game.
