To be fair there's already dragons in the game, and apparently Au Ras are supposed to be (part?) dragons.

Are they? The last memo I got was that they're styled after a demon-motif, rather than a dragon motif and that any potential connection to dragons due to their scales is purely coincidental.

But I'm not always up to date, sooo...yeah.

The design cues for the Au Ra came part in part with both more demonic and more draconic leanings. If you look at the progress of the concept art, the ones labeled "Dragon Race" closely resemble the current Au Ra designs.

No, they are not. Au Ra may have been been made with a dragon theme in mind, but that would clash with the 3.0 story where Ishgard is at war with dragons (how would the story explain a bunch of dragon people being allowed to walk freely in the city without being attacked?)

Dwarves from SE games however have existed, Chrono Cross dwarves were bizarre.

I want these dwarves.

Dwarves have appeared in 1,3,4,5 and 9 so im sure SE could come up with some way to bring them into the fold

Square wont add races that they think the community will put in the ugly box. Dont get me wrong, I love to see Dwarves or Beastman type races, but Yoshida said many times that he will only add races with features that the players like the most aka cute characters.

Yep unfortunately. Me being able to play an interesting looking female character is zero chance when playing a jp game.

Yep, this is sadly something that we can not do anything about. Aslong as Mi'qote, Au Ra, Hyur (Midlander) and Lalafell are the most played races, the only races that will be added, will look very similiar to them. I fear the male version of the races will be stuck in a status quo aswell, every female will be cute and short and every male strong and tall.

If this is something that they are going to keep repeating, then I rather have more faces, hairstyle, ears etc for the current races, then a new one.

It really is unfortunate that that's probably the case. Hope you're ready for your third "Waifu race with blue skin/another animal trait/whatever cutesy/sexy jrpg/anime trope you can imagine" :\ I mean they couldn't even have bothered to do the bare minimum of additions to the girl Au Ra to make them more interesting to those who want something that isn't super cutesy like giving them a greater high range, a "more scales" option, or at least one face that isn't generic teenage anime girl.
