[REQUEST] Making MB selling fairer (in some way)

Undercutting will always be an issue because we all want our stuff to sell. No matter what this is a fact.

But at the same time we have organised members that like MATCHING prices between them. This request is a bit strange in a way but is just to make the MB friendlier and fairer to encourage people and new crafters to match prices to have a better feel that their item has a much bigger chance of selling next.

Yes , undercutting will always exist BUT we with this method we can EDUCATE players in being organised and make MB more productive for everyone and maybe reduce undercutting too.

The idea is simple. And example of what is happening right now:

Adamantine Ingot being sold in MB by 3 people:

    1.000.00gil by Member A
    1.000.00gil by Member B
    1.000.00gil by Member C

Member A item sells. He makes another one and it will go back anywhere. could end up top of the list or bottom of the list as is RNG. Seeing how the market works whatever is top of the list will have a much bigger chance of selling than whatever is below it. Of course there's people that will buy depending on tax and area so second item list could sell first but it's all luck.

My suggestion is if we have members matching prices and their items sold , when ever they make a new one it should go at the bottom of the list by default rather than randomly IF they are matching price.

Like I say this will not end undercutting BUT it might reduce it and make selling more welcoming.

I think its ok the way it is, could use some more regulation but that's what you get with a free market. My biggest gripe is having the same people dominate the markets because they can craft non stop either through longer play times or "other means" and have multiple retainers to have said products on. I knew it was the end of my mb crafting and selling days when SE announced retainers on the mogstation. I just gave up entirely and only put stuff up on occasion or if its the hot ticket item of the week. MB will never be fair as long as there are people with more retainers than you. Business 101. More resources = More avenues for making money. gg SE.

I think it sounds a bit too much like a monopoly situation where only certain people control the market board prices on certain items but I might be missing something in the language of this post.

The fact is there will always be undercutters pretty much makes the MB competitive, and granted we might not like it but if you set a stable price there is always, ALWAYS going to be someone who is like NOPE, undercut! Then you have to get on the same page as everyone else if you decide to change your price. That to me sounds like a headache. But again I might be misunderstanding.

Personally I'd rather they just do what they did in 11 with blind auctions, cus given this scenario I'd come in with 990k (90k, cant tell what your price is suppose to be) :3

I like the way LotRo did it, once you placed an item up for sale you have x amount of time to edit its price, after that its locked for the duration of the auction.

You could always buy out your competition and then list it as a higher price. If that's not a suitable strategy, then maybe the item doesn't cost nearly as much as you might think.

Oh dear, those darn undercutters are cutting into your profit.... *eyeroll* either leave it up till the undercutters are all sold, adjust your price, or find something else to sell. You will never get rid of undercutters, and no one is gonna match prices just because some new system of ordering names comes around.

Yuuuuuup. Retainers are my biggest gripe too. On my server, it's essentially impossible to compete with certain types of items because the same handful of people with the max number of retainers just control the entirety of that particular market. Like, the only feasible way you can possibly compete is by waking up in the middle of the night when everyone is sleeping, putting your stuff up for sale, and hoping you can offload any of it before your competition wakes up. And sorry, but that's not fun or realistic for the vast majority of people so that's pretty much out of the question.

The fact of the matter is certain facets of the MB are literally broken. I'm not saying it's impossible to make gil, but that doesn't mean everything is all fine and dandy.
