Do healer need to help doing dps? Especially cleric stance?

i want to make healer class but everytime i party (as dps) i always see the healer doing CS then help dpsing not once not twice, like everytime iam in party.

Is this requirement? Do i get booted if iam not doing this? At first i though a low level dungeon thus the healer help but, even in high dungeon like antiower the healer still doing it and he's doing it quite frquently yet still healing everyone at the same time.

I have almost zero experience as healer in mmo, i want to try in this game because how easy to switch class in here but the though of doing that just..... My eyes will be busy looking at the party hp (and some aoe dodging i guess) and i still need to stance dancing and help dpsing?

Anyone can help with some insight?
Not sure if server affect people playstyle but i play in tonberry (jp server)

-xiv is a game where you don't need to heal constantly
-nobody likes it when someone in the group just sits around
-mp management is designed around raids which are much more taxing on your mp

refer to the first point. You don't need to heal constantly. So yes, if you were to only heal (and not just spam cures that aren't needed) you would be sitting around a lot.

You don't have to dps as a healer, BUT most the time a good healer will have a lot of down time if you are just healing.

I have been healing since 2.3 so it's second nature to change stance when everyone is topped off and buffed. Just try it and go slow. Once you are comfortable with your healing abilities try to change stance and dps a bit. You'll get used to the flow of fights and learn to maximize your dps while using minimal mp to keep the party alive.

If you're interested then give it a shot. You will make mistakes and learn about your limits. Don't let the pressure get to you and you will be fine.

I think if you have the chance to do it you must do it, sitting a tank at full heal doesnt do any good, of course if you are expecting a tank buster then then top him, but in dungeons? theres no really any danger on regular pulls. I recently leveled my WHM to 60, and really is not hard to trow a stoneskin a regen even assylum go cleric swiftcast Holy Assize Aero 3 turn cleric off heal as necesarry repeat, it only takes around 6 secs to do it all. Also I have a BRD and it relly hurts me when I got no Caster Dps and my healer doesnt DPS at all, it makes my FOE's ussseles, A healer who doesnt dps dont need Ballad either they got more than enough mana for it.

Also from my experience in the expert roullete is absurd dont too, once our healer dc in betwen bosses, we cleared perfectly fine up to the second boss, other time we got an amazing healer that dps just fine while keeping us alive we finished the dungeon around 25 min contrary all the times that takes 30+min

DPSing as a healer is good when you are able to, but if you're new to healing then I would suggest you start slowly. Remember, you are a healer first. In the beginning, you can focus only on healing. Then, when you get more comfortable with the role, you can try adding in some dps. If someone tells you to dps when you don't yet feel confident enough to do so, just tell them that you're a new healer and want to make sure you don't screw up your main job, which is healing. Any reasonable player will cut you some slack while you're learning.

With that said though, stance dancing can be a lot of fun and if you do it enough it will become second nature. But just make sure you remember to turn cleric stance off when you go back to healing. Many tanks have unfortunately met their end because of cleric stance heals. When that does happen to you (and it most definitely will) don't beat yourself up about it. It happens to every healer.

In most casual content, you can use only your strongest abilities, without pause, and won't run out of MP. Because you can use your strongest heals without any real MP disadvantage, the amount of casts you have to spend healing are greatly reduced. And once the necessary healing's there, there's really nothing else to do with your free time other than dps, so you should be helping out rather than waiting around.

When MP becomes a real concern, then you might actually hold off on doing anything sometimes, albeit very rarely, so as to save mana for intensive phases of healing (or even ones that will require you to DPS in the meantime such that you cannot simply regenerate MP during those phases where little healing is required; raid designs seem to be moving away from hard DPS checks and much more closely to hard eHP checks though, which will increase time spent healing as compared to DPSing.

I dont like the concept of Healer doing dps very much. At the moment I'm doing mostly Hullsbreaker Island hard mode (is that the right english name?) and it seems that every time I try to dps that nearly someone dies. Thats a bit scary tbh... Some of those Mobs there can hit quite hard. (Thats happened in other dungeons too)

Maybe I'm just not good enough at stance dancing but without cleric stance doing dps is not helpful either
