Coming from FFXI, I loved the diversity of whole world servers. It always seemed busy as it was always some part of the worlds prime time to play.
The added benefit of course is you could fill up your auction house before going to bed, and log in the next day with the chance things have sold to our cousins on the other side of the world

If the regional servers are actually going to be located in their respective regions, I'm all for it. Some people care about lag.

If the regional servers are going to still be in Japan, it's pointless.

Let them divide them. No one is forcing you to move to a language specific server hopefully this will get rid of the jp onry / childish American thing. Don't like dealing with people who cant speak your language well then you will have no excuse now. I've seen this behavior in 11 but so far never in 14 so some people might just have bad luck and run into a lot of jerks.

Removed due to size restrictions and possible seizures risks.

Separating the servers is a good thing. Better response time, less lag etc... better communication, etc. Localized server is maybe not what everyone wants but it is what we NEED.

    Before I go -

For the umpteenth time, they're only talking about making the servers language specific. Yoshida has specifically stated they have no plans to move the servers closer to their languages' home regions in the event of their becoming language specific, and even considering doing so is way, way down the line from now due to the sheer amount of expense involved.

Merely changing the language of the servers will not improve latency anymore than the general increase in performance all the servers will see from the scheduled server code rebuild. The only performance benefit you will see would be from some players having a slightly more level playing field due to being a theoretically similar distance from the servers as everyone else. And even then, that's questionable. The four languages supported by this game, Japanese aside, are spoken pretty widely outside their home countries. For instance: German, or close relatives of it, are spoken the length and breadth of Europe. English is spoken in America, Canada, Australia, and England, not to mention a few other former colonies. The English servers' average latency will probably still be all over the place anyway because half their population probably won't be in America.

Yeesh.. please you lot if you're going to argue for the blasted things at least argue benefits will actually come of them.

i have mixed feelings about it. on one end i like the multicultural aspect of it now, and on the other i can see having a north America server as an opportunity to have more players on at the same time. I dont speak Japanese so i wouldn't be missing the conversations i never have. But i do enjoy playing with players from Europe Sweden France, ect..If given the opportunity out of the gate i prob would have picked a North American server though if it was an option.

I feel we should just have a better connection established to get rid of the lag and better auto translate to help the other languages communicate. I am reading the jp forums and most of them are complaining about communication and the childishness of most foreign players (american, euro etc etc), and how they are patient and more polite.
As a community we (Americans) should be more friendly to each other rather than be the stereotypical american that everyone loves to hate. If they divide the servers it just wont feel like FFONLINE to me anymore.
No regional servers, I have some good US and Canadian friends ingame, and would not beable to play with them if they made regional servers.

Also incase you didnt realise the community is not American we are english speakers, the forums are broken up by language not region, just a heads up.
