I feel we should just have a better connection established to get rid of the lag and better auto translate to help the other languages communicate. I am reading the jp forums and most of them are complaining about communication and the childishness of most foreign players (american, euro etc etc), and how they are patient and more polite.
As a community we (Americans) should be more friendly to each other rather than be the stereotypical american that everyone loves to hate. If they divide the servers it just wont feel like FFONLINE to me anymore.
No regional servers, I have some good US and Canadian friends ingame, and would not beable to play with them if they made regional servers.

Also incase you didnt realise the community is not American we are english speakers, the forums are broken up by language not region, just a heads up.

regardless if the servers get separated or not they do need to fix more options for auto translate. right now it has very few options and is pretty worthless. i get my point across using emotes alot better than auto translate.

my house is in rebuilding stage. this house is very small and in unpopular area.
the roof, floors, plumbing, and gas are all broke.
my landlord fired the original crew. for not completing the job on time
the new crew comes in and makes all kinds of promises, and shows me pics.
now for next year i have to wait for them to finish the job.
should I move to a more popular, bigger house rent it for same price?
or stay in the part of my house that is not being rebuilt. but still pay same rent as others.

I seriously hope they don't make regional servers, this would be a gigantic step backwards that will take away a lot of my enjoyment of this game.

There are many reasons to why I highly prefer global servers.
    1) Friends. In case you didn't notice we befriend a lot of people, regardless of region and language barrier. I have friends from multiple regions in my linkshells right now as well as friends of mine from FFXI that are planning to migrate once 2.0 goes live. What kind of excuse can there be to not let me play with friends.

    2) Peak times. For us who play at odd hours when most players online are Japanese are going to be hit hardest. Having global servers keeps the server from peaking in playing hours just during it's regional hours, if it does then some players are going to feel excluded.

    3) Socialization and diversity

I think that regionalized servers is the stupidest development idea I have seen in a long time, there are going to be consequences.

they will be adding all kind of servers, im definitely staying on a mixed server, i like that better and you have more population around the clock. And the ppl who feel not that comfortable with the one-language servers, they can just move there, problem solved.

    td,lr NO thanks

i had 0 problems in ffxi with foreign players, i played with them probably half my exp grinds. if they seperate us i might leave way early from this game. take warhammer, i can't play anytime i want \ and enjoy myself, there is no real action during hours outside the normal hours ... i said this on a diff thread but i'm not waiting around for the 9-5's to come home or only playing my events at 8pm-10pm the only 2hrs of a day i really don't want to play mmo's cause that is all there is on a server.

i played all hours of the day depending on when i was loged in for ffxi and i never had a real problem getting an exp grind going at any hour of the day or nite, even when the birds start chirpin in the morning... i love that. besides that without others around, a all american server will just mean we have no other influences in the game and i can bet the servers turn to something i won't like with lots of tendency i won't like. and lastly ...they know how to party long time lol. people who run out on you in 30mins go on my bl, and lets face it an all american server i'll have more then half of you on my bl.

they need to stick with how we had it on ffxi, just fix the lag problems, if there gonna keep servers in jp then no point to me for separate servers, if they plan on adding servers here, then just give us mixed country servers but let us chose witch server base to play off of or something? not sure if that is possible but sounds like a plan.

But they're just right. If my Japanese friends can have a better experience I'll be happy for them. I'm neither pro nor con.
However, regional servers might drive me out of this for good because it only acknowledges the existence of 3 regions, and I'm not (always) in one of them.
But then I'm in the minority, so who cares, I don't.

I don't have any problems with SE's approach to this, having both regional and global servers is ok. I am all for Global servers, but I wouldn't like to be forced to play in a regional server if I have the option, I feel is the same for people that don't like global servers.
