Waiting for CDs isn't needed in this game, no. But it's a common need in other games and may be a habit for other players.I call BS on this. No where in my years of playing this game was I ever required to wait for cool down to pop back up. Even after a wipe in a primal EX run I never waited or asked to wait for a cool down. Its usually a DPS or healer asking to wait because they are squishy. 90% of the time healer is to busy spamming AOE attacks rather than healing me.
Dungeons are face roll easy, waiting on cool downs is pointless.
Oooh, shiney...

The DPS forgetting they have AoE is by far the biggest pet peeve of mine.
If you're too lazy, just don't queue.
The second biggest is anyone who ever just stands around waiting for things to happen.
If you're a caster ABC, if you're a melee ABonC, (always be casting and always be on cooldown, respectively).
I don't care if you're a healer, ABC (Cleric, DOTs, HOLY etc).
If you're DPS and out of TP, ABonC (you always have enough TP for a single target combo). Plus you get invigorate for a TP boost. So stop using being out of TP as an excuse. I can't think of any large pull in the game where you'd run out of TP after using invigorate if everyone else is also AoEing.
For NIN, yes Death Blossom doesn't seem to do tonnes of damage, but Internal Release right as you start death blossoming makes a big difference.
You can also still keep your Huton up by interspersing a single target combo here and there. (just try and make it on the guy with the highest health).
Doton and Katon are pretty great though. You're no BLM or MNK but you can still do decent AoE DPS.
Also, I tend to be ghost-like. I play on PS4 and it's a pain to type anything. I have a bluetooth keyboard but it never works. So I sometimes emote something, but I don't really type unless someone is being particularly bad and I know the role enough to comment some suggestions.

Do you at the very least say hi?
To me, it's quite rude to not even acknowledge the people that you will be spending the next 20-40 minutes with. I don't expect much, just some sort of greeting...especially if everyone else has already shared a hello D:

I like how you made that assumption about me. No I never do that. And I can guarantee they aren't waiting on cooldowns or HP/MP. By the time you run from the trash to the next boss you should be good to go on that stuff. They just stand there in horror.are you one of those guys who pull bosses when half the alliance is outside the boss room, it's also a good idea to let people regain their TP and MP before pull, sometimes you see tanks in dungeons doing big pulls and all they do is spam flash and when we reach boss room nobody has any TP but they still pull the boss.

Does "o7" count? Hello is just too long (kidding on that). I'm a ghost/NPC, or as I like to call it, a zombie. I don't feel bad, I'm just there because the tomes say I need to be. Occasionally I'll put out a o7, but that's about all DF groups are gonna get.
Edit :: Small correction - I will assist if there is a new player that specifically asks for advice/has a question that I can answer.

A mentor stole my house, slapped me across the face, and raised my ping from 15 to 30. Literally unplayable.

It's not that it's rude per say it's how people perceive it me I sometimes say hello or I don't it depends on what i'm doing if i'm rocking out to music, on discord/skype with friends then I probably won't say hi. We as humans are social animals and we need/crave that interaction even if you aren't a social person you still want it which I understand, for me jumping into DF with music and by myself i'm just focused on the task at hand doing it as efficiently as I can.
This is the first time in any MMO that i've played where people are offended by not saying hello at the start of a dungeon/trial/midas normal it's just weird for me, not insulting or anything that people think that we all have our perceptions and opinions, but strange to a person like me.
This whole thread, summed up in one sentence: People play differently than I do, and that makes them wrong.
As a mentor, that actually likes mentoring, this is the best thing like ever you could possibly do for me. Now I know that you actually might need some help and in what areas you might actually need it ^-^This is something I kindof do that might piss people off, but I'm that guy who tells everyone at the start I'm either learning, training or, not very good to my liking at my class at the start. I do this so everyone knows where I am. If not that I often say something to the lines of " It's up to us to save the planet. Lets not let the planet down." Or something to that effect. I can see where it might be an eye roll, but theand the lols at the start are worth it.

Regarding the "Melee who don't AoE" stereotype, I have to ask, how easy is it to recover from TP burn after several AoEs? I understand Nin might have an easier time with most since Doton dosn't need TP and MNK post 50 has Elixer Field but most melee AoEs had more than 100 TP used which does make sustained DPS a little difficult without the help of the Spire or Goad

You should always have enough TP to do single target rotation. Maybe not 100% optimal, but enough to finish the fight which you made significantly shorter by AoEing.Regarding the "Melee who don't AoE" stereotype, I have to ask, how easy is it to recover from TP burn after several AoEs? NIN can't GOAD themselves and rely on the DRG Cross Class Invigorate anyway for bonus TP. (I don't have it yet, but can still do fine, I just do the single target rotation when out of TP+Doton/Katon depending on how many mobs and their health levels).
