Sephiroth is already able to cross dimensions, why can't we fight him? Could in Kingdom Hearts. Probably would get a lot of people resubbing if we could get his outfit and DRKs get his sword.

FFIV? No. As stated in the title, this is a character from VI.

I don't think you should be expecting a spoiler alert on a game that was released on the SNES. There's been plenty of time to play it.

As for Kefka as a character and potential spoilers....no that's no exactly what made him memorable, but it's a part of it. Really it's just his sheer madness and how he conducts himself throughout the game that makes him memorable. That, and the event mid-game that is a serious game-changer which comes at the hands of Kefka.

He's a true villain with no redeeming positive qualities. Pure evil.

Because Yoshi already stated a long time ago that 'characters whose stories are complete in their respective games', or 'characters who become deceased in their respective games' will not appear in FFXIV in any form. This is why Lightning appeared in a crossover (her story was being continued in Lightning Returns which the event was cross-promotion for), but why Sephiroth, Cloud, Squall, Kefka or any other FF protagonist or antagonist will not be appearing in FFXIV in the same way I'm sorry to say:

Also, in regards to future collaborations with other FF series, we will be adhering to the below principles:
· We will never introduce characters that would destroy their meaning or story
· We will not use characters that are already dead or whose role has ended in their title

For example, “Red XIII” who appeared in FFVII.
I believe we mentioned “Red XIV” as a joke before, but Red XIII has a very rare and specific role in the world of FFVII. If he was wandering around the world of Eorzea it would destroy the image of the world of FFVII, so this can’t happen.

This is just a simple example of what we mean.

So yeah, that's pretty conclusive why. Really, Regula van Hydrus is clearly a vague less unhinged expy of Kefka anyway (note that he's the Legatus of the VIth Imperial Garlean Legion, just like Sephiroth expy Nael van Darnus was the Legatus of the VIIth Legion), so it seems SE are going to have subtle references to past FF villains as the commanding Legatee of the Garlean army. But I digress...

I honestly don't want to see any villains reused. At least not the actual villain themselves. Cloud of Darkness gets a pass because she is more a force of nature than a villain, so it was easier to retool her for FFXIV. Gilgamesh also because his story is that he travels in the rift to various FF's to collect their weapons and find Bartz.

Of course I like to see boss fights and references to previous FF's. Perhaps a 4-Elemental Fiends fight from FF1 or FF4.

They could also just call it an alternate time line and done. Isn't that usually how we go about that when we have someone messing with time travel?

There are rumors that Regula Van Hydurs could be this games Kefka since the Warring Triad side story is nothing but a big reference to the Warring Triad statues and back story of VI. But we shall see.
