How to be a better MNK in PvP +Feast?

    Coming from Aether - Jenova,

Trying to figure out what I'm doing differently and wrong compared to the top melee DPS that average 150k-200k+ a match. Looking for any and all kinds of tips whether it is in regards to playing as a monk or just general info about Feast. I'm currently silver but I'm constantly losing. Not really upset much about losing the match but it's frustrating when I'm losing and I feel like I'm not learning anything or I'm not improving.

    1. What should I be looking out for and what should I be doing?
    2. Any certain situations where I need to focus on and apply certain abilities?
    3. Should I save IR and BFB until one of my OGCDs go up for burst? Should I use them as soon as they go off of cool down?
    4. Any tactics or certain movements I need to do in order to maximize DPS or avoid damage?
    5. Strategies against certain comps or individual classes?
    6. The use of more than 2 OGCDs in between rotations?
    7. Is there a better opener?

Current Opener: Fetter Ward + Enliven, Somersault, Demolish, BFB, Snap Punch, IR, Snap Punch, Elixer Field, Dragon Kick, Howling Fist, Twin Snakes, Forbidden Chakra, Snap Punch, Steel Peak, Bootshine, Shoulder Tackle (if I haven't used this to open with), True Strike, Demolish.

The problem I have with this opener is after DK, the PB resets so I have to start back with BS.

I try to take advantage of one ilm punch on tanks and healers when I'm focusing them, usually with Perfect Balance, to knock off all their buffs and regens. I would sometimes back off and charge my chakra for the next burst. Usually fighting in Fist of Earth but getting accustomed to switching between fire and wind for certain situations. Arm of Destroyer occasionally on casters. Sometimes I save Axe Kick for a kill but I feel like it's not worth it? I usually use this when I need to get into a fight right away or interrupt enemy DPS when they're focusing my healer.

I wouldn't recommand opening with Sommersault, Perfect Balance is a better idea, and don't start using offensive OGCds until you have GL3 and Twin snakes at least. You might even want to wait for your target to have the effect of Dragon Kick on them. Don't use blood for blood if you are being targeted first. While you build GL3, Twin snakes and Dragon kick, you can weave Bloodbath, Keen flurry, Featherfoot and Internal release.
Axe kick is up to you, you can use it to save someone or yourself, or regain GL3 right after using Tornado kick.
Pop Mantra when you are close to your teamates, healer will be happy.

Either start with perfect balance or with axe kick. When I see the other melee uses all his cooldowns I start with axe kick, if he is delaying the burst go with perfect balance. When it is a nin which goes into hide, try your luck with arm of destroyer and lure him out, he will be pissed. Take care of blackmages use somersault for that, if they pop buffs give them a stun if they are not immune, if they sleep your healer and he cant purify himself go help him and purify him, you can even perfect balance and silence them for 5s if you feel like it. I hate machinists, they have a crazy burst sometimes some attacks hit you around 6k if you are stunned, they are using blood for blood too, this is an opprtunity to attack them and stress their healer a little more.
If you are getting targeted use featherfoot (ye you will evade stuff and sometimes if you are lucky like 5 skills or something and if you are even more lucky you evade something like the enemy monks axe kick), use keen flurry, foresight, fist of earth. Always purify on full swing that is a 20% dmg increase on you, it is a tank skill just look up the buff icon so you know how it looks, combination with blood for blood and fullswing are pretty deadly for you. You might wanna use a makro which turns off b4b for that reason when they focus you, if you dont want to remove an actual buff in the heat of the battle.
Do not fight in the sacred prism of an enemy whitemage, it reduces physical dmg by 40% or so, unless you are really close to killing something, otherwise try to lure them out, make him practically waste that powerful skill.
Try to get a feeling when boxes (lb,buffs) spawn, I think first offensive depot spawns at 4:00 min left, then again at 1:30 or something not so sure about that one.
I don't know if this is common, but I tend to be the guy who is marking the targets in like 80% of the matches. You are a melee after all, range dps can switch targets easier than you.
Try to be aware of your surroundings if a healer is going to die and you can focus the other dd quick or you have to retreat to your base to get closer to the respawning healer.

Lately I switch more into fist of wind in order to catch up to healer who are just outrunning me as I would be a turtle or something (thanks SE for removing weapon throw from melees).

In general you gotta think about what important skills they already used and if it is possible to actually kill the target now or do you just waste your cooldowns because they can counter them. If a healer popped benediction, divine seal&presence of mind(these 2 can be removed by one ilm punch too), tetragrammaton and also attunement, he has a hard time to counter burst. Same goes for other healer except scholar they are op.

Anyway if you cant kill the target always blame the other dd or the tank if he is not a warrior. so far

do not open in axe kick, use it to continue your burst with tornado kick.

this isn't PvE, you need to double/triple oGCD at gl3.

remember that steel peak is a 3s stun, it's best used just after (or just before) a good amount of damage. same with using arm of the destroyer in your burst rotation to stop healers.

form shift into opo to dragon kick before pb to get the 10% so you can use bootshine when pb finishes.

don't open with fetter ward/enliven, you're just making it aware you're going to burst. you want to set up your burst (dragon kick, gl3, twin snakes) before you actually pop fetter.

I feel like because over somersault kick's fast CD, it's better to use it for opening as opposed to PB. I tend to PB when I want to olm punch someone's buffs off, whether it's a range DPS about to burst or a tank or a healer.

    1) Pressure healer, kill people. There's a lot you "should" be doing and it's hard to summarise it without detailing every single class etc. Real tooltips and figure out what would be the best given the situation.

    2) Save perfect balance for chain silence or One Ilm Punch spam. Thats the most effective way to use it.

    3) You want to fit as many oGCD's and GCD's into them both, but to actually secure a kill you need to save your stuns and use them at the right time. Work around it.

    4) Keep Fists of Earth up for most of the match. Makes things easier for your healer and yourself.

    5) MNK works best against BLM/WHM but can shut down any physical burst with Axe Kick.

    6) Circumstantial.

    7) Circumstantial. There's no "set" rotation for a good MNK in PvP as you detailed. There's too many variables to account for. You do what is best in the moment.
