I have a ping of about 200ms because I am from Australia.
I know NIN is out of the question.
I know MNK is highest but I wonder if DRG would be higher for me due to ping?

Monk> Blm>Drg
Dragoon is not too far away so i say give it a try as you may very well like it.
Ps4 370 ping here, its not as worse as 370 ping PC but still Being Top Dps about 90% of all DF and PF so far.my mains are Mnk/Blm/Drg though.
I have around that much ping and Monk is my main. I've been able to top dps in raids and trials.
I've also heard Black Mage is a good option too, as well as maybe Summoner?
Anything that doesn't require double-weaves (two oGCDs in the space of a single GCD) will still be a decent choice. MNK > BLM > SMN, I'd say.
Do you use any sort of ping program? Pingzapper, WTFast, Battleping? I tried WTFast and Battleping, but found Battle to just be better, I went from like 300ms to 160-170ms, which is pretty significant, if nothing else, it tends to also stabilize your connection if you get crappy lines to the americas, I used to get cancelled actions and oGCDs cancelling constantly, not it's very rare if ever
On the subject of jobs, Nin is very possible on that latency with the mudra fix, making it more reliant on the client, not the server response time (To a lesser extent), double oGCDs are 100% possible, it more comes down to mudras being fickle (A multi stage mudra going from Raiton to Suiton will sometimes tweak out if you've got higher latency) before I had Battleping, I just tried to not button mash the mudra confirm icon, it has to finish its animation anyway which was more than enough time
If that's troublesome, Monk is an amazing choice, but they tend to lack the versatility of other dps, since their rampup is pretty long, they're very good if you don't mind that, though
Drg is much the same as Nin, but with no mudras, less chances for things to fail if you despise the mechanic
At that point you have both casters, which I've never seen latency being a problem being around 200ms, the two ranged Bard and Mch also seem quite fine.
Just don't be like me and play on satellite internet (1000ms ping) You bet your butt I got carried through titan back then XD
hate breaking it to you, but high ping on a smn is like torturing yourself. Not only do you want to punch garuda or ifrit in the face every time they do not cast the skill you just pressed because of high ping, but you end also up screwing up your rotation. Now sure, most of the smn's around here are happy with dps numbers of 800 but that's not what a good smn should bring to the table and even so it's possible to play it with higher ping, the moment you start lagging like no tomorrow, all you can do is log out and play something else or you will end up hating yourself and the game itself. Test it out![]()
I just started using Pingzapper(I found it better than Battleping) and the lag spikes are no longer noticeable. BTW I route to Singapore rather than Japan as the server has less jitter.Do you use any sort of ping program? Pingzapper, WTFast, Battleping?
