Like: There's just so much to do and so many things to choose from, as long as you're not motivated by the shiny battle gear at the end of the tunnel. This is a collectors' game with abundant mounts, minions, glamours and furniture and it suits my fancy. And of course the story is always interesting.

Dislikes: The combat jobs have too similar game play. Almost everyone has combos, there is no longer a fully mobile job (combos or casts or gtfo), healers are almost the same and tanks mitigate the same way by pressing a button every 20 seconds. I'd want more smart heals and chain heals, damage and heals radiating one another, active mitigation for tanks (instead of a tank stance you have to generate and consume a resource often enough to keep up a tank buff - without the same old combo rotation!), mobile ranged dps, more pet jobs and less clumsy pet AI, melee dps that aren't combo-based and dps with a choice between melee and ranged. There should also be at least simple talent trees; players should be able to choose between certain skills for each fight and change their rotation. This system could be expanded on top of the attribute point system. I'd love this kind of horizontal customization even though I hate the idea of horizontal gear progression due to inventory issues.

Oh there's another dislike, inventory issues. My third dislike would be how sensitive this game is to a bad internet connection. I can play almost any other game easily when my bf is browsing youtube but not this one. My combos don't register / they cancel and casts seem to finish but don't land. Sometimes I get interrupted as if I moved even though I stood still for 10 seconds beforehand. It's stupid. Why is this game so bad with lag when other games are not?

    I like:

    - Deffo the music, Soken did an amazing job with the soundtrack I can't lie.
    - The over all world, a lot of the places just feel magical to look at while other places just have me stopping to look at every nook and cranny.
    - Dodo's <3

    I dislike:
    - Combat, it's far to slow for my tastes and doesn't feel dynamic at all to me. Even the smallest fights feel like they drag on for far too longer then they should feel.
    - How even the smallest QOL feature or standard MMO things all have this extra layer of padding to them which causes bloating and makes even the simplest task more tedious then it should be. Glamor, flying / aether currants, retainer banking, market selling, etc.

    Favourite things about FFXIV:
    - The visuals are great. Especially the combat animations. They did a good job at making you feel like you're playing the job just through animations alone (e.g.,
when you use Butcher's Block on WAR, it gives you a sense of hitting your target with brute force.)
    - Music. Of course being a FF game, one would expect it to have great music, and XIV doesn't fall short here.
    - Crafting and gathering. I like how each and every crafting/gathering class supports one another, making each class relevant in some way.
    - Original relic quest. Fighting Ifrit, Garuda and Titan HM when 2.0 first came out was some of the most fun I've had in this game. It felt extremely rewarding to obtain my relic weapon in this fashion. We need more quests like this.
    - Story. The MSQ is nice, but I really enjoyed most of the Job quests in particular. (Loved the WAR and DRK job quests.)

    Least favourite things about FFXIV:
    - Longevity of content. To an extent I can understand some 2.0 content being thrown to the wayside, but content within the same "expansion cycle" (e.g., 2.xx, 3.xx, 4.xx, etc.) should not be considered obsolete. Mounts, minions, achievements and story completion should not be the only means of keeping content relevant within an expansion cycle. Not everyone in the game likes collecting mounts, minions or achievements. Most people do have one thing in common though: character progression.
Making gear relevant for an entire expansion cycle would go a long way in reward satisfaction and content longevity.
    - No sense of danger when traveling. I still remember my first trip to Jeuno in FFXI 10 years ago. Need less forgettable experiences in this game.
    - Boring stats on gear. Increasing my vitality on my tank by a couple of points does not excite me. Adding unique stats such as "Cure potency +10%" or "Inner beast HP return +10%" would make gear much more exciting to obtain.
    - The word "casual" should not translate to "easy". Casual content can still have creativity and challenging aspects to it without it being infuriatingly difficult.

    The good

    - The music and environment are beautiful. Even these early dungeons, how the rocks look, the lighting. I fall in love with the game every time I look at out at the water in Limsa on a bright game day.

    - Lore, I love learning all this wonderful stuff.

    - There is nostalgia with this game that gets you hooked. Also, this team is really responsive to a lot of the questions and concerns. I just feel people think they're being ignored but if you don't hear from them..the answer you got is most likely not polished yet. Remember, above these guys are people who might not have played the games but have the money to request changes they feel are more business friendly.

    - The glamour, being from FFXI you really didn't change gear so much. I was stuck in that Lv.50 SMN gear for a long time..always carry around those mittens. It's nice to see unique looks on various jobs. Some people are very creative when it comes to this and it shows.

    - Crafting and gathering, I didn't like crafting in XI. I'd get a good chance at an item if I was facing the sun when it was in the NW direction on a firesday...etc...

    - The jobs, I like the jobs. I think more could be done, but in the long run the base mechanics in mind (Ninja's using hand symbols, for example) shows they know where they want to go. You can say how much you dislike things like SMN, but in the end that was our fault.

{Players} - I want summoner..it's not Final fantasy if it doesn't have Summoner.
{Powers that be} - We understand, but we want to do something else with the summons...like have you summon them once and really see their power.
{Players} - I want summoner..it's not Final Fantasy if it doesn't have Summoner.
{Powers that be} - Hey, I like the summoner job too man but..in terms of the lore..and where we're going with it...
{Players} that's it! I'm leaving..I'm..I'm running away, and you'll never see me again. You'll see..you'll see you were wrong. Don't try to come after me..don't try to stop me! ...don't let them see you cry..don't let them see you cry.. I didn't know you guys could be so cold, and ruthless! I never loved you...
{Powers that be} - Hey..come on buddy..look here's summoner. Okay? We took some time..this is what we came up with. See..
    {Players} - .....I don't like it. Fix it..
{Powers that be} - Yeah...we're sorry.. but hey! While we're at it we put scholar in with it too on the same class..you could try that instead.
{Players} ..wait what? That wasn't part of our deal blackheart..That wasn't part of our deal!

    - F.A.T.E.S..I enjoy them, but I like my lore so reading in on the little things like the story of the F.A.T.E. is fun.

    - Everything that is Manderville.

    - Due to how quickly things come out and get "easier" I can catch up after a long period. Things do not take all day long.

    Not a giant fan of

    - Though I enjoy the core mechanics of the jobs, I feel we could expand on them greatly. More party enhancements, debuffs, ways for players to link skills to do more damage (it was in 1.0 I can't remember the name, someone will help me out I'm sure.)

    - The vertical progression & lack of unique equipment. I never did Niddy EX...why? 3 months whatever was a pain will be easier to get or it will be obsolete. I play now to where the challenge I get is equal to the reward. Might as well grind on my own my relic than run through Nidd Ex. If you got a weapon say, relic G. Axe and in the end it said "Steel Cyclone: Additional: Slow +10% 10s, Decimate: Additional : Fracture" you might be happy if you got that. Now you get the G. Axe and say "I now have something good to go with my banana hammock! $#^! just got real!"

    - This connects to above, but how fast content becomes stale. These developers have put in a lot of time, and things look beautiful. I wish there was incentive to stay in there and appreciate it more. After you run a dungeon 500 times, you stop caring.

    - Lack of open world content or raid content that involves a FC. So far there hasn't been a giant perk except meeting awesome people in a FC.

Most of you would be far happier playing something like Elder Scrolls Online. It has dynamic class creation/builds, virtually unparalleled character customisation - with a dye system that allows for each tiny detail to be coloured, active open world with similar systems to ffxiv in places granted, fully voiced so you don't have to expend the energy to read and content is somewhat less rigid for those who dislike the trinity (including full action combat obviously)

I realise that im not sticking to the OP's guidelines but I seriously dont really know why most of you even play FFXIV. It may not be perfect but when you consider titles like ESO are almost entirely free comparatively, its a no brainer. As for myself, I couldn't be happier here. All the things you don't like are precisely why I do. Bizarrely one of my favourite parts is the community... because you actually have one. Unlike other games. In my experience, don't ask for changes without weighing up the repercussions. Turn the game into a classless, challenge-less, carebear fest and this game will be dead before you can say gravestone.

Speaking for myself I really only play this for my small handful of friends that I love. They don't enjoy the games I play the most and that's okay. They love it here so I meet them here from time to time to play and chat with them. FFXIV is not my main game by far and my friends know I don't play FFXIV, I just visit it. It's also something to do when my main game is down for server fixes and patches.

    Favorite:

    - The amount of polish and stability in this modern MMO. A lot of other MMOs simply lack the polish and stability FFxiv has to offer. They suffer from bad framerates and general choppiness no matter what your settings, most of the time. Not to mention a lot of bugs and random UI failures that FFxiv doesn't seem to have. A poor performing game is an instant bust for me, so Im glad I can rely on FFxiv for its stability.

    Dislike

    - I've been subbed for almost 2 years and I've seen a lot of content get added to the since 2.55 or w/e, and it just FEELS like a lot of content was implemented KNOWING that they weren't completely fleshed out and were just given poor RNG to cover it up and make people play longer. The Relics dont shy away from this at all, its very upfront about it. But recently, with Palace of the Dead, it really feels like FFxiv started with a great idea but did not flesh it out as much as they wanted to/could have. (same can be said about the diadem, LoV, even chocobo racing)

I just wish FFxiv would respect the time I invest into their game instead of giving their content poor RNG to prolong its activity, then dropping support entirely when something new comes down the pipeline to repeat the cycle.

Like: Glamour system and playing dress up Barbie (as my husband calls it lol)

Dislike: The entire SMN job. Very disappointing, especially coming from FFXI's SMN job (which was my main in that game).
