Like:
-The art and art style is what made me play this game pretty much. I love Akihiko Yoshida's work but too bad he left SE so he's not really handling this game's art direction anymore.
-The world. It's really beautiful with lots of sights to see but sometimes I wish it was bigger because zones feel so cramped.
-The music, although I preferred 1.0 music much more. I don't know why they replaced those themes.
-The lore and story but I think the storytelling could be better, and I think 1.0 did pretty well on that regard. The lore of this game is really good but I wish it was more fleshed out. (maybe more city-state MSQs?)
Dislike:
-The open world is really boring and mostly useless in terms of content. FATEs and hunts aren't fun and are "zerged" so there's really no challenge. The overworld doesn't feel dangerous when it should've been after experiencing a Calamity. Overworld mobs are pushovers, no more mobs over the level cap and no more mob AI like back then, which gave them more character.
-Content feels watered down and there's not much middle ground at all. Most content are too easy, not very fun, lacks creativity like dungeons, alliance raids (although Mhach was pretty good), PotD etc and this is coming from a casual player. Leveling experience is too easy that most of the community lack experience and ends up being very bad at the game.
-MSQ is mandatory to access almost everything in the game. Honestly, I wouldn't mind it if the entire 2.x MSQ didn't involve so much fetch or kill filler quests (which drives away so many new players).
-Battle system and encounters feel linear, heavily scripted and not much strategics involved since encounters are about memorizing scripted mechanics. Stats feel boring, no variety or flavor at all.
-This is probably the most fanservicey main FF title I've ever encountered that I don't think FFXIV is very original, but I know it's not really a bad thing. Even 1.0 felt more original to me.
-Content has no longevity. Anything before the current patch becomes obsolete, especially dungeons (which are only ran for tomestones anyway). Most of 2.x's content became obsolete as well after Heavensward, same thing happened with 1.x after ARR. It's such a waste.
-I feel like the gear treadmill is too fast. Maybe SE isn't doing vertical progression right or this kind of progression isn't doing very well for them at all.
-Raid gear doesn't feel special or rewarding for raiders as it used to be and even casual players can be on-par with raiders within the catch-up patches because it's easy to gear up at the highest ilvl (but not particularly BiS) at that point because upgrades are available in easy content.
-Two of my favorite jobs, Dark Knight and Summoner aren't true to the tradition, especially DRK.
