Kind of makes zero sense to me, how can I be married to Aymeric or whoever, and hey this other person is married to Aymeric, and so on and so on?

NPC's would have serious polygamy going on there

P much. I don't want to see 100 Thancreds or Aymerics running around.

I'm starting to question that right.

It would make about as much sense as the MSQ does. Within the story quests, it clearly is just you who's the newest Scion, Minfilia's lackey, Alphinaud's big-brother figure, Cid's buddy, Gaius' nemesis, and so on. Not 10,000 people at the same time. When story quests refer to dungeons/trials, other players are just your "allies". That suspension of disbelief is necessary to deliver both a highly scripted storyline and a multiplayer experience at the same time. It's not meant to make sense from the outside, just from your personal perspective.

So, assuming SE wanted to allow you to marry Aymeric, they would just place all related content in instances and treat it like the MSQ. As far as anyone else was concerned, it would never happen because from their perspective they are the Warrior of Light and you're just some random adventurer.

was going to say the same thing.

even still, if they were to implement something like this they should do it Skyrim style. have dedicated NPCs that are "romanceable" not just your typical storyline NPCs like the Scions. how weird would it be with the current state of Minfilia if you had some kind of relationship with her before.

ideally they should do personal storylines with regular NPCs and you can trade them gifts to increase the relationship (doesn't necessarily have to be romantic but that should be an option).

after you max out the relationship you can invite them over to your Apartment/FC Room/Personal House and they'll bring you a house gift (like ventures) and you can place them there like a furnishing. but they'll leave on their own after X amount of hours and you have a limit of like 2 or 3 people you can invite.

every patch they can add 2 NPCs from every region.
