Pikmin's use of real products is to enhance the experience. You know that you're on earth, and so seeing a Duracell battery is normal.
American Express in XV implies that America exists in that world. It immediately pulls you out of the experience.
Yokai Watch pulls me out of XIV.

I have yet to start the event, but as long as its fun I don't care about the "advertising" part; although FATES, argh, and not even a special one with a guaranteed drop. But complaining about advertising is just dumb. Many games advertise other things, both their own and other products, its how they get funding. I mean, we've had advertising for other games before they were just for SE games, XIII-3, XI, and Dragon Quest. I mean would people be this upset id it was a Pokemon event? Thats bigger in the west more than Yo-Kai Watch, but who knows.
I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

What's the problem really? We get more minions and weapons. They look great, some of us actually like yokai.

SE gets paid to put more content for me to do in the game? This isn't exactly product placement, that would be having posters that say "buy coke" plastered across the gold saucer. This is a collaboration event (something for us to do), paid for and partly made by level 5, it is extra revenue to pay for new content and infrastructure (like how the mogstation that people like to moan about paid for the EU datacenter), AND you get a fun little temporary event out of it. I've wanted more collaborations since we had the XI and XIII ones, and I love the novelty of them.
Plus Yoshida is friends with the Level-5 CEO guy (Akihiro Hino?), so it's really not the end of times or anything. He also plays the game, I think, but I've slept since that interview, so I could be wrong. >_>
But a lot of people actually really love it...
A lot of people in Japan are VERY excited about this event.
Gold Saucer was completely swarming with people!
So many people were losing connections.
I will gladly take cross-over events like this if it means that exclusive items aren't relegated to the cash shop in a subscription based game.
Isn't this pretty normal in Japanese online games? I recall there actually being a giant screen in the hub world in PSO2 that just plays commercials.

With this kind of advertising, i'd be on board,
