Guessing you are not doing the fates with the correct minion out for the zone you are in. (Each minion has 3 zones which its legendary medallion will drop in if it is out for the fate.)

Yeh I agree, it sounds like the other person is making the mistake. As you said they do need not only to be wearing the watch but also they need the correct minion out and in the correct zone. To find out which zone they just need to go into their special inventory items and read what says when open the minion guide thing and click on the specific minion.

I have both watch and correct minion just not getting any legendary drop finally got 2/9 now at about 60 fates. RNG doesnt favor us all :/ Ill finish my minion then if i dont get another wep i dont think ill bother not like they are anything special.

You also need the minion OUT. i'm pretty sure whenever the legendary medal procs, your minion will despawn and you need to take it out again.

--probably an anti-bot countermeasure, but its catching some players off-guard... Like you, perhaps.

Unless you're sitting on top of your mount, this will look like the minion is not out, but it's not removed. Now if you put your chocobo in the party, that's the only time the minion will be removed but it gives you a message, letting you know that you can't have both out or unable to spawn the minion during combat.
