No one is saying that the game is worse either, but YES, people are warned because of their decisions and they should be. You don't need to have your afternoon tea at Square Enix escritory to actually know that cash shops should be watched and treated carefully, you just need to play MMOs for some time and watch the MMO market. It's not rocket science. The MMO history is all the proof the one needs to actually be afraid of cash shop moves.
You can ignore that all you want. But then it's your choice, do not come preaching for "proof" like we're at some kind of tribunal here.

It's all a matter of logic. If the item cannot have been made into the game, then why it exists for mogstation? Why the mogstation is the priority for an EXCLUSIVE item? Does it exist because of mogstation money? Then, mogstation is supporting mogstation? Because if that's the case, it's worse. We're not supporting the game paying for items, we're supporting the cash shop itself. The item COULD'VE been a recolour, like Red Fenrir. But no. Putting an exclusive item on mogstation was a CHOICE. A greedy choice.
If you think that this is okay. GREAT. But there's absolutely nothing wrong with not being comfortable with it.
This is a slippery slope fallacy. It paints a doom and gloom scenario wherein Square is on the cusp of exploiting their Cash Shop when we've yet to see any examples of this since its implementation two years ago. You wanting every item readily available in game doesn't give it any intrinsic value nor does it set any precedent. These mounts serve no functionality beyond looking different. They do not give you any sort of advantage. If you deem it too expensive, you can simply not buy it and be no worse off. I'm likely waiting until it goes on sale because the price is a bit too steep. But outside some disappointment, I'll get over it.

Why the exclusivity? Because people have asked for it. The JP playerbase differs substantially in their opinion over the Mogstation if receive threads are any indication. They dislike palette swaps and asked for something unique. Given the price, I can somewhat appreciate that. I'm far more likely to buy an item like this or Sleipnir because I have no other means of getting it. Square is a business after all. These items sell and enough players want them. Frankly, even with a sub, the cost to value ratio still favors FFXIV over F2P games. Consider...

    FFXIV: 3 months subs + $24 Mount = $63
Black Desert: Two outfits = $64. And let's not forget that new sub model they added that basically screws people who opt out.
Blade & Soul: RNG loot boxes and enormous grind skips, plus each new outfit costing $15-20
Elder Scrolls: Mounts range from $12 to $33.
WoW: Mounts cost $25, plus there is a sub fee.

Of each title listed, only one offers a guaranteed major content update every three months. That is what we pay for. The Cash Shop is a completely separate entity. FFXIV also boasts the least amount of items on its Cash Shop by far. Thus, I don't see why it is so vilified. If anything, SE has shown ample restraint compared to their counterparts-- including WoW. Now that does not mean everyone should embrace it. You do you, boo. Value is always subjective in these instances. But let's not pretend this is some horrifying situation where SE is trying to nickel and dime its playerbase while other MMOs wouldn't dare. Sure, you can play BDO or B&S entirely free, however you won't see nearly the equivalent updates nor have access to the amount of glamour. And like both, you can opt out of paying for stuff in FFXIV too.
