You know after seeing it ingame for some time I don't find it that cute anymore. Maybe its because I feel so bad for it? *laugh* Like wanting it to do some work-out and eat more healthy to loose all this fat. They have big moogles already ingame so why didn't they just use such a big one as the carrier? Why does it need to be so fat? (Feel kinda sorry for the fat chocobo too) But yeah even with a big one instead of a fat moogle I would not have bought it for such a price.

@Bourne_Endeavor: You say that FF14 has shown the least amount of items in their store but is it really fair to compare that amount of items to games like Black desert or even WoW? BD needs their cash shop items to survive and even if they don't get content out regularly they still update it and like you said yourself you don't truly need to use their cash shop or this new "sub" to play the game and you have lots of things to do there too. WoW opened its cash shop around three years ago but was running this game without one for 7 years or more, so even if they have more mounts in it (which is only four more than FF14 including the wedding mount) they took way longer to include their cash shop in their game than FF14 did.

I would be kinda okay with the CS if they would put the money back into the game (which none of us know if they do that or not) and that we would get even more content with it. Like three dungeons and something new on top of that..not suddenly two dungeons and a new thing. Its just that right know it feels like that money is used to finance other SE projects and not the game itself and that we get less now than more. (But these are no facts just my feelings on this..)

Funnily enough, despite how much i may seem to "defend" the Cash Shop, i actually belong to this category.

I only have bought Sleipnir and the Moogle mount.

Sleipnir because i fell in love with him ever since the cutscene from FF9 and the Moogle mount because i love everything Moogle.
I would also buy anything PSO/PSO2 related (if they inversed the Crossover) because i am in love with the Phantasy Star series and i actively play PSO2

The reason why i defend the exclusives is because to me, it is obvious that if they could not monetize them, they would not make (at least not as many) them.

So to me, the cash shop is a necessary evil.

Doesn't the bird mount from him play it?

A FC mate said there is no mount in game currently that plays Ravana's theme.

The Rose Lanner plays his theme, they buffed the drop rate this patch along with making it obtainable with 99 tokens so the grind shouldn't be too bad if you really want it.

Really? Huh. They must not have that bird then. My mistake.

What I don't get is the bolded part. I understand the "feeling" statement, just so we're clear, though it does have its own contradictions lol. Why is it that you don't apply that same bolded argument towards XIV? None of the cash shop items are mandatory. My only guess is that it's because you play this game (and maybe not the others... or if you do, you prioritize this one over the others), and thus equal reasoning doesn't apply.

Also keep in mind that microtransactions are a recent practice. WoW took so long to do it because, for starters, the internet itself wasn't as mainstream to do purchasing until within the last decade. It's very easy for people to overlook that fact. We're at a point where cash shop practice (and DLC) IS the current standard with online games, whether you agree with it or not.

I only put the feeling part in, so some people wont think that I see those as facts and more like they are my own opinion.

Well because I only needed to pay 30€ to get Black desert and after buying one pet from the cash shop I did not spend another single € in the game. So the only money they would earn without a cash shop would be the money they get once per sold unit, which would not be enough to finance a MMO. So its okay to have a cash shop there. I have no problem spending money on such games because I don't have to pay anything else than the purchase of the game (or nothing at all like in free to play games) and if I like the game I want to support the developers a little. But in FF14 they get the money per sold unit and a monthly sub from everyone and yet at the same time we also have a cash shop too. (And we still could support the company even more by buying merchandise and things like that.)

So in the end the reason why I dont apply this to FF14 is, because I have the expectation that if I pay a monthly fee in a game that this will be used to create content unlike free to play games that will not cost me monthly but also wont have much new content (at least not that many updates). And in this game glamour, mounts and minions are content. (I know that some will say that we only pay for the access but I cant believe that anyone would ever really pay someone the money just to get access to the server and not have content. Who would play such a game?)

And even without the cash shop WoW was able to survive just fine ^^;, since I did not play WoW I cant say if the CS started around the time the sub dropped or if its just was a decision free from any player numbers. And yes sadly DLC and microtransactions are the new thing, and I am completely fine with these, in games that are for free since they need to make their money in some way. I just dislike this kind of things in games that I already payed for, sometimes even a lot of money. It was such a nice change that the 16 small witcher 3 dlc with clothes and new quests did not cost a single euro, so there are still companies out there that do it different. And if everyone just accept these as the new standard than nothing will change. (And yes I am also a little hypocrite in this since I already bought something out of the cash shop or DLCs in other games but I will not buy everything, like those short but pricey Dragon Age DLCs..)

Just to be clear, I don't hate SE for their cash shop and I know its here to stay. But it would be nice if they keep it only for recolors, old event items and things like color pots and not put new mounts in there. If they dont get any feedback on it and everyone just keeps silent than they will not do anything at all, but maybe just maybe our voices will at least change a little bit and if not we can at least say that we did everything we could.

Hopefully this does not sound harsh or anything X_X english is not my first language so I am always unsure how other people will read my posts.

Yes. Because no F2P game can provide near the equivalent content because they don't have a guaranteed source of revenue. Sure, you can play them, however you will often be at a severe disadvantage if you want to participate in their endgame. The way BDO is structured, you basically have to pay or you'll simply be outpaced by those who do. WoW also existed for seven years prior. Companies aren't going to adopt old business models. A primary reason WoW opened its cash shop is due to a decline in subs and the current shift in trends. Nowadays, DLC and Cash Shops are the norm. Like Welsper noted, WoW released before the surge of online shopping took effect. That all being said, what we pay isn't going to more Cash Shop items, but consistent constant updates. Everything else is a separate thing. Supposedly, the Cash Shop is what paid for the EU server expansion.

And it isn't as though FFXIV doesn't offer free glamour, mounts and minions. If they did, I would feel differently. But two unique mounts in a span of nearly three years isn't a big deal imo.

Just to be clear, I don't hate SE for their cash shop and I know its here to stay. They do get feedback though. A recent thread translating the JP forums cited they wanted more unique Cash Shop items and despise palette swaps because they're boring. The fact Sleipnir alone sold nearly a million dollars worth say it all. People seem to want them, and are willing to pay.
