People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
You're welcome! Tbh I'm happy to know that quite a bit of them hate fates too. So maybe in the future SE will make them more interesting.
On topic, I understand a lot of you are wary about cash shop exclusives. And given the track record of other games, I don't blame you. But have more faith in SE. Mounts obtainable in game far outweigh cs mounts. They're probably making bank from the cs and wanted to reward purchasers with an exclusive.
I really want to have faith in SE I really do and I also want to love this game. But after what happened with housing, EU campaign and other things its just getting harder and harder to do so.And from the five mounts we already have two that are completely unique so nearly half of them. (It would be half if we count the wedding mount that you only get by buying the package from the CS) Thats not a rate that makes me comfortable.
I know that the CS will stay and they wont sadly change events back to the beginning where you got the old items on top of the new ones but please SE keep it that way and only put recolors and event items in it.You can earn more money and people have the chance to earn them ingame or buy them..win win for everyone.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
I can understand, if you love everything about the game that you find it annoying to read so many complaints. But not everyone is the same and some like these things and some don't. I kinda wonder how some people will feel, when they will have something that disappoints them (not necessary restricted to this game) and want to voice it and they get a "ugh cant you just go away you complainer". Probably hate it right? ^^
This is a forum and as a paying customer everyone has the right to complain or say thank you as long as its civil. You can be on their side or against it and its completely alright if you buy it (heck I also bought Sleipnir in the winter sale) but its sadden me that people are attacking others (be it from pro or contra) and that there will always be someone that goes into a thread that is about something negative to complain about the topic..or even make these complain threads about complainers..(I mean I am quite sure that most if not all of us has complained about something in our life.) There are some "complain" topics that I roll my eyes at but if they don't have any interesting to discuss, I will just ignore it and go on with my life, yet there will be enough people attacking the OP of that topic and with that letting it staying even longer on the front page..why cant people not just ignore topics that they don't even care about or may have nothing really to say to it? :/
So more on topic:
Would I complain about the red fenrir being in the CS? (Owning the gold saucer one) No, because its just a recolor of the existing mount and even though its kinda telling that they make it easier and easier to get such things, it still would be okay with me because people could still farm it ingame. The same with all the other mounts that are just recolors.
And I am not sure if its good that FF14 already has 5 mounts in its cash shop while WoW has 10 while existing for way longer than 14...I kinda wanna know right now how much mounts we will have after 10 years.
To make it more interesting there was a interview with Yoshida (which was also discussed in the forum) where he talked about a level jump potion and said that its something that they saw in WoW. One of the options was, to put it into the Cash shop but they still wanted to gather the opinions of the players and that they are not sure if they will do it or not..So I fear that it will really go more and more away from the cosmetics only and I am kinda interested when there will be the point where some of those that defend it now will also start complaining. Hopefully they are ready for those posts that will tell them to stop doing so because its silly or something.
(This forum is really tame to some of the things I read in forums from games like Black desert...they don't have to pay a sub and yet still find the 35€ outfits. that come with a weapon and that you can also just buy parts of it, to be way to expensive..)
To paraphrase a YouTube comment I read yesterday:
I'm really glad the mount isn't gated behind something stupid like running fun content.

I couldn't care less about red fenrir. First, it's ugly. Second and more important, I can get it in game. They could have put the whole pantone palette of colours for all the mounts that are IN GAME there and I wouldn't care.
Best mount ever! 10/10
The amount of self-entitlement and nothing but wild speculation from the anti-mooglestation side is unbearable.
Your entire arguments are nothing but wild guesses and negative, baseless conclusions on what you think that is actually happening within closed doors.
You have no data, no evidence, you have absolutely nothing that proves that the game is worse off due to the inclusion of the mogstation items and again, you have absolutely no proof whatsoever that the items would have made it into the game if the devs could not have monetized them.
Your entire complaints are based on imaginary offenses that may or may not be actually happening.
And while it is true that we cannot prove that mogstation does not affect the game whatsoever either, do remember that the burden of proof falls on you, because you are the ones complaining about it and making claims.

When someone resorts to insults and rantings, I find that it's normally because they no longer have anything valid to add to a conversation. No side will have proof of anything. You can't claim to be right and that you are exempt from providing proof. We are not in court here. The amount of self-entitlement and nothing but wild speculation from the anti-mooglestation side is unbearable.

And before you tell me that we have no proof of the contrary, while that is true, we are not the ones complaining or making wild claims.
The burden of proof falls on those claiming and complaining.
My rant is my argument, i am saying that your complaints are void on the grounds that you cannot prove even a single one of them and thus your entire arguments are nothing but wild speculation. When someone resorts to insults and rantings, I find that it's normally because they no longer have anything valid to add to a conversation. This is not an opinion, this is a fact because you admit yourself that none of us can actually know what´s really happening at Squenix.
You guys are not complaining over an actual problem, you guys are literally complaining over a gut feeling.
So it is certainly not me, the one that has ran out of arguments to bring to the table.
You guys never had any argument to begin with, unless now we accept wild speculation and gut feelings as arguments.
