    I like the idea of not having completely free allocation, but instead having some limited ability to focus, like the merit points people have been bringing up.

    The reason I posted this thread, though, was really about archers. I've been reading a lot of threads saying that archers got nerfed to the ground - but someone pointed out recently that the stat auto-allocation for archers currently puts a lot more into mental stats than archers need or want. For bard, they might need that, but I was wondering if archers who didn't want to be bard would still have the option to DD.

    (Not an archer, but going to have to level it for -Enmity traits)

    Well, for me, I'll welcome it back.

    There's nothing like having the option to just go out there with a weird build to see what happens - 'was one of the many things I enjoyed in Ragnarök Online. I mean some of the builds..

    Perma-Battle-Acolyte anyone? Or perhaps the Melee Sage, or Perma-Novice. Or dear God, fear the Instant-Cast Super Novice.

    So.. yeah, roll on 1.20 and being able to manipulate my stats again.

    Actually the plan is to have automatic and bonus points. So what you have now is the base of it, and you get bonus points to add to it as you level.

    Sounds like a good compromise to me. Also, this kind of system will benefit us more if they ever release additional jobs for classes. For example, being able to allocate your bonus points into VIT if you're going the tank/paladin route with gladiator or putting more bonus points into STR if you choose the DD based job.

    1.19 Physical bonus revisions -NEW-

    Implementation of automated character development based on class level.

    We will implement a system whereby players can voluntarily allocate attribute points to each class in patch 1.20. This will take place alongside class balance adjustments.
    Unless they have changed plans (or delayed further) after 1.20 we are supposed to be able to choose between Auto-Allocation and Player-Allocated, but either way the total points to allocate are fewer but more meaningful.

    Gimped or not I will leave it as auto-allocate. We have to make enough choices in this game to "customize" ourselves between race, gear, materia, what abilities to equip (personal gripe of mine, should get access to all base class and then limited other class abilities imo) and the list goes on. It's beginning to feel more like a burden than customization so I'll take the route that doesn't require a heck of a lot of thought (especially without knowing battle and ability equations yet). I also put faith in SE that they have optimized the stat allocation already. Sure I may not need any STR on CNJ but maybe all the other stats are brought up to a high enough level that they will only gain benefit from gear anyway. Here's hoping.

    I'm reading it the way Arcell is: we get the auto-allocation that is happening now PLUS bonus points that we can add as we please.

    And I'm thinking the bonus points aren't going to be as much as they were before, so instead of allocating 300ish points at level 50, we might be adding 50 points instead.

    Although if I reread it with a sense of terror, we will have the choice of auto-allocation or manual allocation (which wouldn't be half bad if we had the option to do either/or).

    And if this is the case, then I can be a Marauder with minimal Intelligence and Mind (Arrrhhh matey! unless +Healing affects Second Wind and Blood Bath, that would mean... Aaarrrrgh!) or a Conjurer with minimal Strength and Dexterity, then try to stack up on the attributes that I think would help me more.
